“Beautiful place to stay, with the most helpful staff I have ever met.”

Stayed at the Rutland Hotel for one evening when I visited for the Edinburgh Tattoo, the staff were fantastic, offering to help us get a taxi, offering an umbrella (as it was pouring with rain), they were so lovely and helpful. The room was fantastic with beautiful views. Had a fantastic stay and loved it so much have booked to go again to stay whilst Christmas Shopping. The bar was excellent too, with very attentive staff who served us immediately as we sat down, even though it was very busy, very lovely place to stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Junior Suite is excellent with beautiful views and also Jacuzzi bath.

My husband and I travelled to Edinburgh to see both the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and some leisure time.

When we arrived we were told there was a problem with our room but that we had been upgraded to an apartment. We explained that we had to catch a train to Glasgow and asked if we could just freshen up and the hotel staff were wonderful and let us do this also saying that our cases would be in our apartment when we got back.

We did not arrive back until 12.30pm and were amazed at the apartment it was FANTASTIC.

The staff in the hotel were so warm and friendly the breakfasts were good and very reasonable priced and it was all in all a really great break.

Room Tip: Just book in!

My teenage daughter and I stayed in the apartment for two night in mid-July. We loved our stay as well as our time in Edinburgh! The apartment is decorated really well - kind of funky. It's located at basement level, but there is a lot of light throughout the rooms; and the back leads out sliding glass doors to a small courtyard. The hotel provided several muffins for our breakfast. The beds and furniture are extremely comfortable - we slept extremely well!

Location-wise, the apartment is located a half block from the Hotel itself. We walked with our rolling luggage from the train station to the Hotel to check in, which is a 15-20 minute walk down Princes Street. The Rutland is located near several other hotels so there is always a cab parked out front if you need one. We walked to the Old City many times during our stay, which was easy - again about 15 minutes walk.

Try the hotel restaurants during your stay - we LOVED our steak at Kyloe (it was our favorite meal during our stay in the UK) and we had a great lunch at the Huxley Bar.

We would absolutely return to The Rutland Hotel and to their apartment - great stay!

Room Tip: Stay in the apartment!

The Rutland Hotel was the second stop on our honeymoon and my wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the hotel. The hotel is detail oriented in every way - fresh bottled water every day, hair curlers, terrific toiletries, great coffee etc (with fresh milk rather than powdered creamer). Every staff member was warm, friendly and helpful - always offering to take care of things for us or finding ways to save us time.

We had breakfast each day downstairs at the Huxley and were given free rein to order anything off the menu and every item was delicious. We also tried their steakhouse Kyloe and had a terrific Cote de Boeuf - well worth it for a steak lover.

The location was super - just outside of both New Town and Old Town so it wasn't noisy at all. Getting to the airport was a breeze, the express bus is just a couple minutes away.

In the $240-400USD/night range I don't think you could do better in Edinburgh.

Very clean and quiet room, didn't know we were right in the centre of Edinburgh! Staff could not be more helpful or better dressed. We need to go back to try the steak house, but The Huxley was nice and relaxed with great food. Overall we came out feeling refreshed and very happy :D

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at The Rutland Hotel. We had to drop luggage off early which was no problem at all. They kindly stored our luggage in safe place next to reception until we returned in the afternoon to check in. On check in we where shown to our room (castle room no 11). The muffins in the room where a nice surprise and the espresso machine easy to use. Our luggage was also sitting waiting for us. Lovely thick bathrobes and ironing board hidden in the wardrobe where a nice touch also. My ultimate love about this room was the white rococo style bed with its soft mattress that you just melt into. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the view of the castle from the room was lovely. Breakfast the next day was one of the best I have ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly and staff where very welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh as it is situated in a perfect location.

Room Tip: Some rooms like number 11 are situated up an extra floor from the lift. I would recommend asking if...
