We arrived at this hotel sunday afternoon in hope that they had a room and was greeted by ursula, very friendly! Luckily they had 1 room left! The room was imaculate, well equiped and very cosy. Having to order breakfast the night before is a great idea for a hotel this size, works very well, and the food was amazing. The beds are extreamly comfortable, we had the best nights sleep in a long time! I work in a 3 star hotel almost 3 times bigger, we charge twice the price and its nowere near as good as clan campbell. I would definatly reccommend this hotel!

John and his fiance/ rest of the staff are lovely people. Nice quiet location in easy ealking distance sights, comfortable, great and generous breakfast (needs slightly better coffee). Extremely helpful with a multitude of little things that popped up. Congratulations and good luck with the wedding.

Hotel was excellent, even a fan provided in room as it was very warm. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good ,liked choices and cooked and presented really well. You don't need any thing to eat during the day as the breakfast sets you up for the day

A wonderful location in a building with great character. Far enough away from the traffic but still within walking distance of where you wish to go.
Stayed in a very large family room with mile high ceilings and fantastic windows. If stairs are a problem for grandma's knees then it would be advisable to let them know ahead of time in order to arrange a room near the ground floor. Otherwise, a refreshing break from the large hotel environment.
Breakfasts were plentiful, complete and got you ready for the day. Having a bar/lounge was also nice for us!
John, the owner, was very helpful regardless of my many questions!

This hotel is a beautiful building with loads of character and huge rooms. It is in a quiet spot yet walkable to the centre of town or a fiver in a taxi. Our room (family room 2) was gorgeous, spacious and had fantastically comfortable beds. The hosts were great company without being invasive and the breakfast was first class. We travelled with our two kids aged 12 and 8 and they loved the place. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely guesthouse tucked away a few blocks from Leith Walk & the bustle of the main streets in New Town. The guesthouse occupies a listed building that is well-maintained but with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere rather than pretentious or stuffy. I had a single room on the third floor & it was larger than I expected with a large wardrobe, desk & chair & good-sized bathroom. There is a spacious lounge with a bar on the ground floor. Breakfast is included in the tariff & is delicious--fresh ingredients, well-cooked, and a lovely setting. I've read some complaints about the fact that you put in your order the evening before, but I found it worked very well. It circumvents the queues around buffets, cold food, and long delays. Plus it allows the owner to accommodate special dietary requests.

Clan Campbell is a short 7-10 minute walk into the main areas of Edinburgh, which is a beautiful & compact city. There are plenty of excellent restaurants & pubs within a few blocks of the guesthouse.

The only potential drawback that I can see is that there is no lift & the stairs are steep & can be numerous depending upon where your room is located.

The staff are all helpful & friendly, but must say a special thanks to John, the proprietor, who provides warm hospitality & goes out of his way for his guests. I enjoyed my stay & will definitely return.
