I went to visit my daughter during the month of July. She is living in Edinburgh and during my visit we walked everywhere! Great way to stay in shape and eat all the "chips" I wanted. One day she told me she wanted to show me a pretty area to walk through and it happened to be Dean Village. It just was delightful. I was not going there looking for shops, just a nice place to walk through on our way back to her flat. It was lovely and if you happen to be in the area, it is worth checking out.

This tiny village is really special. Although it doesn´t appear in tourist guides is a place worth visiting. One can start the adventure by walking all along the rives in Queen´s street at the city center, this way you would enjoy the nature along the stream and once you get to Dean villages you´ll see old style houses, like cottages ane stony roads, a bridge and if you are lucky even swans and ducks.

l Could not believe this place was real, that there are people living in such peace, beauty & harmony . Record the place on a map or GPS before you head there because it's tucked away from the main streets, it's a bit of a walk so wear comfortable shoes and expect a small uphill climb but in the end you WILL feel it's worth the effort when you see the beautiful houses and streets and sit by the flowing water . Try to go in Summer on a sunny day for the best experience .

When visiting the beautiful and tranquille village of Dean close to the Stockbridge district in Edinburgh. It felt like being part of Midsommer Murders. The Village used to be 11 watermills. Look into the yards.

Perfect for a sunny sunday morning walk, we enjoyed it very much, loved the houses and quite atmosphere. Do not expect Provence or a big separate village, but a nice couple of houses in nice environment with lots of character.
