Visited the week after Queen had been is residence.Did the garden tour which really added to the experience. The tour concentrates on the history of the garden rather than the plants. You will also learn a lot about the ruined abbey and its place in the history of the Palace We learnt a lot about what the queen does on her annual visit and how much she likes the garden. The self guided audio/video is the best i have ever used. Weather was glorious and gardens were looking their best. Wonderful afternoon of living history

We were curious to explore Holyrood as it is the official residence of Queen in Scotland, but I particularity found interesting Mary Queen of Scots bedchamber and the romantic atmosphere around the ruins of the Holyrood abbey on the palace grounds.

A very remarkable place to visit. It is located at the end of Royal Mile with many things to see and learn the history of. I really enjoyed the tour of the castle with such wonderful visuals. The only disappointment with the tour inside the castle was you are not allowed to take photos. As long as flash photography isn't used I'm not sure what the reasoning would be.

The ruins were SPECTACULAR!! It was a spotty rain filled and cloudy day, which added to the beautiful backdrop. There also is a very pretty garden you can stroll through, This is a must see when you are in Edinburgh!!

Holyrood is not the largest of the Queen's palaces, but it's beautiful and steeped in Scottish and British history, from the private rooms of Mary Queen of Scots to the ruins of Holyrood Abbey, the palace is incredible. We liked it much better than the castle itself. Enjoy!
