This gallery is wonderful, when we visited the feature was Scotish comedians and was a delight but lots of other permanent features of interest [seek out the death masks].
Not to be missed.

“Great visit”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I really enjoyed my visit to the portrait gallery. The building has been recently renovated and is looking very fine. The staff were friendly and helpful in spite of us arriving just an hour before closing time. The highlight for me had to be the queen in all her finery standing in the middle of a highland glen , she looks very serious.

“Hidden cafe in Queen st. Gallery”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We went for a coffee and cake. Conveniently sited within Portrait gallery. Good to remember for a toilet stop too!
Cakes were good but expensive...macaroon was about £2+
A busy cafe so mealtimes would be a problem for seating I think.
