“Well worth it..”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

I stumbled on the People’s Story by chance on my way down to Holyrood and very much enjoyed visiting this free museum. It gives you a good sense of the living and working conditions of ordinary people in Edinburgh across the centuries and is an excellent introduction to the city. A little gem...

“Fascinating insight into Edinburgh life past & present”
Reviewed 11 January 2012

This museum is free (although there is a tollbooth for donations) and is in a historic building which was once a prison (one of the cells is intact with “inmate”). It looks pretty small from the outside but there’s lots to see inside. It depicts the lives of Edinburgh residents from medieval times to the present day, some illustrated by wax models. We found it quite fascinating (in fact we visited twice as the first time we had underestimated the time we’d take to go round).
Staff were very helpful and friendly and even found a wheelchair for my Mum who can’t stand for long periods.
This is definitely worth a look.
