Great place to stay and only 15-20mins on the bus into the city or 7 min on the train. Public transport (buses) in Edinburgh is £3.50/day unlimited usage. Hotel has gym and pool but as we were so busy going back and forth into Edinburgh, Portobello and Musselburgh we never found the time to use them. Food was ok at the hotel but there are other places nearby to eat. Breakfast was £10/head so we ate fresh fruit we had brought with us. Portobello was within walking distance and Musselburgh has a wide range of restaurants from Indian, Italian and English; and a fantastic real ale pub called the volunteer Arms. Would certainly recommend as a base for exploring Edinburgh.
