I don't wish to be too critical of the hotel as it did suit our basic needs. First of all, we had to pay for two nights in advance, after our arrival. The receptionist (trainee) did not know where the elevator was; she was not able to count banknote; generally not the warmest of welcomes.
If you need something, you feel you've interrupted the reception staff's chat.
Our room was old and small. The water tap is bizzare and very dangerous - hot and cold water is not mixed but both have separate output (see photo). Really gruesome! The wind coming through the gaps around windows. I can not recommend this hotel.
Overall feeling. I didn't enjoy my stay in Edinburgh and staying here made me grumpy.More
