Stayed as Best Western clubcard holders and were up-graded to the larger Club room which was well furnished, very clean, great size, big flat screen tv with PS 2 (also plays DVDs, if you remember to bring them on holiday...). Didn't have time to make use of the gym/pool/sauna but ate in the Bistro - very good food at reasonable prices. No kids allowed in the bar - Scottish law, so not just the hotel's rules - and a very decent (but not piping hot) buffet breakfast with a good variety (including haggis - nice to have that included). Tentative staff (although girl doing the check-outs could have been a bit cheerier/more reactive). Park the car there and get the number 44 bus into Edinburgh - day tickets available at reception. Buses very frequent and easy to find and meant for a care free day. Staff were generally very helpful and the hotel was clean and quiet on an evening. Coach tours tended to breakfast early, so the independant traveller doesn't need to get caught up in the rush earlier on - worked well and we would most definitely return.

Just come back from Edinburgh and two nights at the Kings Manor. If you have children this is the place to be. The pool and spa are excellent, the rooms are large, spotless and well equipped, the food is great and the staff are helpful and very friendly. The kids loved it and want to go back a.s.a.p. It's just a short bus/ train ride into the City but is far enough away for those wanting a bit more tranquility. It's a short walk to the beach at Portabello and is also within easy reach of shops, banks, eateries, etc. at Portabello High St. The price was similar to other hotels I looked at but the pool was the deal maker for us. It's no deeper than 1.2m so there was no deep end to worry about with the kids, (although they must be supervised by an adult). We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor facing the tennis court and there was no noise at all.

Green Features: This is an excellent idea. There are recycling bins in the rooms.

spent a couple of nights there to watch the tattoo. lovely, clean, friendly staff, large comfortable rooms and big beds. was a bit hectic getting in to the city due to the finge being on at the same time as the tattoo. on any normal stay i should imagine it was worth the short journey into the city.

Room Tip: not sure but a bit of a maze inside the hotel. but once you got use to it, it was ok.

Green Features: very good at environmentally practices.llarge notice stateingall these in the rooms.

Me and 14 friends stayed for 3 nights over the weekend, the food, rooms service and ambiance where second to none. The pool and spa area were so relaxing.Edinbuurgh is within a 20min ride from hotel and the beach is just a 10 minute walk away.

Wonderful room. Firm beds. Clean and large by European standards. Modern decor, updated. Friendly staff who can't help enough. Business ctr (at check-in desk) Only thing a bit far from city center and airport. Good find during festival time though.

At first the Kings Manor seems to be a ramshackle array of units built on to the original building with no real plan or reason. Well that is what it is! That is the charm of this place. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable. Showers are quick and hot and water plentiful. The staff are very helpful and cheerful. The hotel has a bistro and bar set up down one side and a more formal dining room where breakfast can be had each morning. All of which is excellent. The Kings Manor may be just out of town but what it lacks in proximity it more than makes up for in price and functionality. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all the weary travelers out there. By the way the number 44 bus takes you straight into town for 1 Pound fifty pence. All of 8 minutes!!
