Stayed as Best Western clubcard holders and were up-graded to the larger Club room which was well furnished, very clean, great size, big flat screen tv with PS 2 (also plays DVDs, if you remember to bring them on holiday...). Didn't have time to make use of the gym/pool/sauna but ate in the Bistro - very good food at reasonable prices. No kids allowed in the bar - Scottish law, so not just the hotel's rules - and a very decent (but not piping hot) buffet breakfast with a good variety (including haggis - nice to have that included). Tentative staff (although girl doing the check-outs could have been a bit cheerier/more reactive). Park the car there and get the number 44 bus into Edinburgh - day tickets available at reception. Buses very frequent and easy to find and meant for a care free day. Staff were generally very helpful and the hotel was clean and quiet on an evening. Coach tours tended to breakfast early, so the independant traveller doesn't need to get caught up in the rush earlier on - worked well and we would most definitely return.
