“A very cold Edinburgh, but a warm hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2010

Just spend the weekend from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th February at this nice hotel.
We were allocated a family room, which was very large and comfortable, with all the facilities you expect from a hotel in the UK. Also had a flat screen TV, with freeview channels (over 50 it said in the instruction book). Located about 3 miles from the city centre, with a good public bus service outside the front door. Food and service in the Restaurant was excellent, for both breakfast and evening meals (Did not try the bar meals). A very nice bar area (except for the TV's showing sport all night long). A good choice of Hotel, if you plan staying in Edinburgh.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my husband. We stayed in a club room, which was spacious with great facilties, and in excellent condition. We booked B&B, the breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful, as were all the staff we encountered during our stay. The gym facilities were complimentary, and we made good use of the sauna and jacuzzi. We ate in the hotel's bistro for two nights, the food was excellent and not expensive. Buses run from outside the hotel into Edinburgh every 6/7 minutes, £1.20 for a single one way ticket. There is a corner shop a few steps away, and Asda is only a 10 minute walk. £63.00 per room per night for B&B is excellent value. I would recommend this hotel for a trip to Edinburgh, if we come back we would definitely re-book.

Stayed at the hotel due to a university open day visit at Edinburgh Napier.
On arrival at the hotel, we were very impressed with the helpfullness of the staff. As requested, they gave us information required on the easiest way to get into the city centre of Edinburgh - bus stop right outside the hotel which runs every ten minutes! BRILLIANT!
The hotel itself was very impressive. Had great leisure facilities including a gym, sauna and swimming pool.
Rooms were very large and comfortable. As we stayed in a club room, a playstation for children was provided and two large beds. Friendly, great location and clean hotel

Recommend highly!

My sister and I have just returned from a Christmas shopping trip organised by David Palmer Travel and we were very pleased with the hotel. Although we were taken into Edinburgh by coach, we were told that there was a regular bus service and local station to get in and out of the town centre. I've stayed at Best Western hotel's before and have been pleased with the overall standard. We were very impressed with the staff and it was obvious that they were all well trained. The food was excellent and although we were a large group, they still managed to give us a wide selection for dinner and the breakfasts were varied and plentiful. If we visit Edinburgh again, I will certainly consider staying here again as although it is about 4 miles out of the centre, the standard of accommodation and the staff make up for an impersonal city centre tourist hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights during the Military Tattoo in August 09 and were really surprised at the cheap rate we paid compared to other places we had tried to book. We had a club room which was huge, clean, comfortable, and would compare favourably to 4 star rooms. The service was good, the food was good, and the free on-site parking is good. The only down side is that the city centre and attractions are far away - this is why the price is cheap. The bus stop is just outside the front door, but you don't have the convenience of being able to walk to the centre or just to eateries and shops. Plus there is nothing else within walking distance around the hotel - it is like out in the suburbs. The other bad thing we experienced is on the Saturday night we were there, the hotel had a wedding reception and we could hear the music and partying until about 1.30am in the morning. As we'd paid for the better room we felt this was a bit poor. Other than that, our stay was good.

We stayed here on a visit to the university. Staff are excellent. Great welcome and very efficient. Good free parking on site.
We had a superb room, kingsize bed and 2 singles. Free Wi-Fi and superb television.
Leisure club is excellent. Very friendly, helpful staff. Well organised and super pool. Excellent to relax in after a busy day in the city. Excellent bus transport into the city. £1.20 single or get a Day Pass for £3. Bus outside the hotel and an enjoyable ride into the city on the upper deck. Cheap way of seeing the sights!
We rate this hotel VERY highly. We will be returning many times as one daughter has just started at Edinburgh University and we live on the Isle of Skye!
Highly recommended.

This hotel is a little out of the way. Bus service is good on weekdays, but limited on weekends. Taxi was approx. 12 pounds to downtown Edinburgh. That being said, the rooms and service that you get for the price were worth this small inconvenience. As long as you are looking for a restful place to sleep after a long busy day sightseeing in Edinburgh and you are not looking for a party, this place is great. We had club rooms, and they were very comfortable. The beds were some of the best we had in our whole Scotland trip. We ended up taking advantage of the room service almost every night, and were quite satisfied with it. This was also one of the only places in our trip that had a pool, which we used once (our 8 yr old daughter) out of our 3-night stay. Every one of the people at the desk that we came in contact with were cheeful and helpful. Free internet access was very welcome. Free parking. To summarize, this hotel had everything we needed!
