“Beautiful Hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2013

Stayed here in November 2012 as a long weekend with my boyfriend and absolutely loved it! Booked it a week before we went on a whim as we wanted to get away somewhere and I had never been to Edinburgh! So glad we booked this fabulous hotel! 4* and got a great price for 3 nights. Huge double bed with great modern decor. We were on the second floor and although there was no view from the window that didn't really matter to us as we were always out and about. I had just been recovering from the norovirus on the first day we got there and having a free mini bar with pringles, chocolate and tins of coke was a great addition! We didn't eat in the hotel but we did have a drink one night and it was nice and quiet in the hotel.

I think we did have a room that was specially for wheelchair access as the bathroom was fitted with such items, the only thing wrong with this was that the shower was not enclosed and I did manage to flood the bathroom one morning, oops! Wouldve been easily stopped by a lip or edge around the shower tiles on the floor, but obviously if the shower was for wheelchair access they couldn't have this (but still would've flooded the bathroom with, regardless of being in a wheelchair!)

Other than that, great hotel. Fabulous location, we took a short cut though a mall which is right behind the hotel and it takes you through to Princes street and from there it is 5-10 minutes to the royal mile! Yes, was a bit awkward to find at first due to the ongoing tram works, but don't let that stop you!

Did get room service one night which I'm sure would've been lovely, only they had gotten my order wrong and we were too tired to ring and change it, so my boyfriend ate it instead. (I had asked for a bagel with just cheese and some how got a bagel with club sauce? Strange!)

No expense spared at the toiletries either, Aveda shampoo etc! Lovely. Did not try the pool or spa

Would stay here again.

Room Tip: I'm sure all rooms a lovely, there isn't much of a view due to the location on the street, s...

A single overnight stay on business, most hotels begin to feel much like any other.
I have to say that this hotel is one of those where I felt a little more effort had been paid to make the stay that bit more comfortable and memorable: Chocolates and strawberries in the room on arrival. I nice large room, well decorated to reflect the character of Edinburgh. Lovely bathroom with a really nice walk in shower.
The television immediately at the bottom of the bed was a large flat screen TV which was a bit too near for that size - but that's hardly something to complain about!
Check in and check out were efficient, polite and very helpful.

I will make particular mention of the food. The evening meal was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The full scottish breakfast, while very bad for the waistline, was equally enjoyable.

An very good hotel and I intend to stay there again when next in Edinburgh.

Stayed for two nights for a weekend break, loved the hotel as it's very modern, bright and fresh. Rooms are lovely very contemporary in design with a huge flat screen tv at the bottom of the bed.bathrooms are lovely no bath but a wonderful large walk in shower. We had dinner on our first night in the Turquoise restaurant which was lovely. Breakfast was served to you at your table, buffet style only for the continental breakfast. As hotel is just behind St JAmes centre it's very close to shops.Would highly recommend this hotel if you like modern style it has a boutique feel about it.

We stayed at this hotel shortly before Christmas 2012.

Rooms are really funky and modern. Staff were friendly and the hotel is conveniently located in the city centre.

We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was excellent. We also used our tastecard, but even at full price I wouldn't have complained.

Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here Fri 25th to 27th Jan 2013 for a weekend break in the city. We loved it. Staff were brilliant, really helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless, as was our room. Loved the Spa inspired Rainfall shower. Bliss. The complimentary mini fridge contents, luxurious bathroom toiletries and bathrobes are lovely welcome pack. The food in The Turquoise Thistle Restaurant was outstanding. Delicious. Location is brilliant, as just up from The Playhouse Theatre, Omni Centre, St James Shopping Centre and only a 5 min walk away from Princes Street. You are made to feel like a VIP and the customer care and service that is delivered by the hotel staff is second to none, and that was consistently through-out our stay, with all staff we encountered. Can't wait to return and would definitely recommend this hotel. 10/10.

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo for 3 nights in January, as a weekend away.

We booked a junior suite, and it was lovely (Room 006 in the basement). It had a super king bed, and a small sitting area with 2 chaise longue and a 2nd television. The decor was especially nice.

The hotel staff kindly rang up a week before we were due to arrive, to ask if we had any special requests. I asked for diet drinks in the mini-bar. Very professional, I thought. Unfortunately when we arrived, this hadn’t been acted on, and we were only given full fat drinks.

We were slightly disappointed that the “free mini bar” turned out to be 2 cans of soft drinks and some water, plus a bag of crisps and a biscuit. Most hotels actually include alcohol in a mini-bar.

What was frightening though was the cold – the room was freezing! The first night we were huddled together for warmth, with extra covers piled on the bed! There was snow on the ground outside, and our room had no heating! The next day we requested a portable heater, and by our 2nd evening the room eventually got to a reasonable temperature. They did actually manage to fix the heating for the last night we were there. Still, it was very disappointing for any good hotel to let out a room with no heating in midwinter, let alone a suite.

Another minor point was that the hotel TVs weren’t picking up 4 of the main television channels. Apparently this was a problem with the hotel internet and television provider in Switzerland.

It was such a shame that such a nice hotel and staff were let down by technology failures. The staff did acknowledge the problems and were very sympathetic – I have to say they were generally very good, and are a great asset to the hotel.

BEAUTIFUL. That's the best word to describe! We were cold and tired when we arrived on Friday 25th, to be greeted by a wonderfully warm hotel and equally as warm staff. The room itself was big, decorated in a big modern print on the wall with a big-big-big bed & modern bathroom. AND A CHAISE LONGUE! Lucky us! Honestly, we couldn't have wished for better on our first trip to Edinburgh, the breakfast was lovely and we simply cannot wait to come back and visit again!

Room Tip: Don't be put off by the roadworks outside - as two complete novices with a map, me and the boyf...

Dear Jaded 1990

Thank you so much for your lovely review of your stay here at Hotel Indigo, Edinburgh.

Each of our 60 bedrooms are individually designed and I am delighted to hear that you have enjoyed all the comforts of our hotel. All our rooms come with complimentary welcome mini bar with snacks, soft drinks and also fresh milk for your morning coffee or tea.

The roadworks outside the hotel can seem daunting when you arrive at the hotel, but like you recommend you shouldn't be put off by them and our front office team are there to assist guests getting to and from our carpark.

I will certainly pass your comments on to our team and I hope that we can welcome you back to our neighbourhood soon.

stay curious
