“Hip boutique hotel”
Reviewed 6 May 2013

We stayed for one night and really enjoyed our time. The location is about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town area of Edinburgh and Waverley Station. Our street level room was quite loud with traffic going by and footsteps above from the lobby/restaurant area. Room rate seemed high in comparison to another place we stayed in the city. With that, the room was fun with a bright (indigo) color scheme, sitting area, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Mini bar included free snacks & non-alcoholic beverages. Staff was very friendly and helpful with finding our way around. We did not dine at the hotel, but it looked to have a nice restaurant & bar. Room rates seemed to fluctuate greatly pending availability as we were quoted pricing for the following weekend at about a 30% discount over our night's stay. If I could give this a 3.5 I would due to the perceived value for what we paid.

I have stayed here a few times now, each time it has been a most pleasant experience on the whole. The rooms, whilst not large are beautifully decorated and the shower room (no bath!) is well equipped, clean and extremely functional.

The food in the restaurant is also excellent and the staff are attentive and polite. My only little niggle would be that in 2 of the rooms I have stayed in I have suffered from noisy fans or generators outside, although this was more of a niggle than a problem. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but having said that I still consider it value for money.

Room Tip: All are good

Clean rooms, quite location and a very friendly staff. Be careful of the ceilings!! We had a room with dormers so the ceiling was slanted. Ouch!! Bathroom is very nice and roomy as well . You are several blocks from main tourist area but easy to walk to in 15 minutes.

Really enjoyed our stay. I loved the funky colours, and the interior design. We had street view wall paper and a turquoise chaise long. The room service food quality was lovely. I had catch of the day with hand cut chips. The bar in the room is complimentary but they don't advertise this. Also the road outside is being renovated into a tram route. There is huge road works and it is not easy to get dropped off or picked up by a taxi if you have huge bags.
Also we emailed a couple of times to ask about how to get to and from the airport. The hotel didn't answer. It is very easy to catch the airline bus, the stop is a 10 min walk

We stayed here for 2 nights for our last couple of days in Scotland and were very happy with our choice in accommodations. Check-in was a breeze with helpful staff including someone to show us to our room to explain the specifics such as heating/cooling system, lights etc. The room was smallish but well laid out and comfortable with a large screen tv on the foot of the bed. The decor was fun and updated - like out of a page of the latest Ikea catalogue! Bathroom was bright (sunlight) and had modern lines with wonderful rain shower- and hot. Room was supplied with plenty of fluffy white towels and bathrobes. The wardrobe had lots of space and the complimentary items in the mini fridge were a nice touch. Wi-fi key was free and offered immediately upon check-in. Location was fantastic - if you are a shopper this is the hotel for you - Princes St is a few minutes walk away. If you are looking for a good breakfast place nearby we recommend Broughton Deli. Only one negative at this hotel was the tram construction on the street which meant the road is completely closed off to vehicle traffic, it wasn't noisy or disrupt our sleep it just meant our taxi couldn't pull up to the front door. We just walked a quarter block down to where the cabbie could get close. Overall we loved this place and would stay again if ever found ourselves back in central Edinburgh.

We visited the hotel for Afternoon tea for my partners birthday and we were not disappointed!!!
The reception staff were very pleasant and showed us through to the restaurant where we were met by Jade.
Jade took our coats and our belongings from us and showed us through to the restaurant which was beautiful decorated. The afternoon tea was just wonderful with a vast choice for sweet and savoury treats, Jade explained what everything was and was very helpful and attentive! An absolute credit to the hotel!!!!
Many thanks for a wonderful experience!
