“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 2 March 2014 via mobile

We did not stay over, but my wife and 7 friends had a Prosecco afternoon tea deal. They all said it was fantastic. Food, wine, coffee was excellent. Staff were friendly, helpful, very attentive and nothing was a problem. They all said they would go back.

Our stay here was brief, but wonderful. The location is outside of the touristy Royal Mile area, but it wasn't too bad a walk--maybe 10 minutes from the train station. We found everything in accordance with the high standards that we've come to expect from Indigo! When we checked in, they offered us each a pair of walking shoes to keep. It must have been some sort of affiliate marketing program they had going on with the shoe company--but it was a nice welcome gift! The room itself was a bit on the cramped side. But it was so beautifully decorated with lush, bright colors, that we couldn't really bring ourselves to care. The bed was comfortable and the shower was warm, high water pressure bliss after a transatlantic flight and a day full of jet lag. Breakfast the next day in their restaurant was delicious. The only hiccup was that they didn't quite get our checkout pricing right the next day. But when we pointed it out, they quickly apologized and corrected it.

Business traveller - rubbish free wifi download speeds, unacceptable for business travellers. Good quality toiletries. standard rooms are hardly functional - look good but only one desk seat for example, where is your partner expected to sit? On the bed? the free mini bar is appreciated but I would be happy not to have in replacement for another seat! why serve English jams and honey in Scotland's capital city.? Worst porridge I have tasted. Scotland's capital city? Potato scones are extremely poor quality, used to be much better, budget supermarket quality sadly. It's a shame that this 'concept' hotel (not sure what that excuses), looks great on the outside, but lacks on delivery. Staff are exceptionally helpfull and responsive but it isn't enough. Several of my work colleagues now actively request different Edinburgh hotels in clouding the Hilton and Roxburgh as a consequence.

Dear Jimb0151,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us.

I am disappointed that your stay was not to your expectations. I will certainly discuss your comments with our managers. I do apologise for the quality of your porridge and will certainly investigate this with our head chef.

I do hope that we can welcome you and your colleagues back to our hotel.

Kind regards,

Dominic

Stayed here on Monday 24th Feb 2014 for a business trip, from check-in to check-out every member of staff I encountered were unbelievably nice!, the rooms while on the small side were very luxurious and the bed huge and VERY comfortable - nice little free snacks and drinks in the mini fridge and the TV entertainment system was state-of-the-art!.

The Dark Haired Eastern-European Receptionist (didnt make a note of her name) was really pleasant and helpful

Room Tip: Be Aware - the hotel only has 3 rooms with a bath - the rest are all (Very nice) shower rooms - you...

There were three of us staying here for one night (a saturday night ((22nd February))), and we got room 112. (I would HIGHLY recommend this room!)

I am not exaggerating when I describe how beautiful the Hotel was - York Place was a lovely street, very busy but once inside the Hotel you could not hear a thing, and from the outside, the hotel was stunning.

The ladies on reception were really lovely - they checked us in with no problems, and then they showed us to our room and showed us everything in it.

When we went into our room we were overwhelmed - the standard of furniture, the amount of plugs and the beautifully tiled bathroom were just a few highlights of it!

There was one TINY issue - the internet connection was barely any use as it was so slow, but as it was complimentary I guess that is fine!

I would definitely recommend Hotel Indigo - this is a wonderful hotel so you'll have a comfortable, perfect stay, just as we did.

Room Tip: Room 112 was absolutely beautiful (you can fit up to 4 people as there are two double beds)

A fellow colleague and I stayed one night on the way to a work conference. We were most impressed with the hotel and the staff and it was a shame we only stayed one night. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a short stay in Edinburgh as it is central small clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent

Dear Rosemary C,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a great review of your stay with us at Hotel Indigo Edinburgh.

I am delighted to hear that you have enjoyed your short stay in our beautiful city. We certainly are in a great location to explore everything Edinburgh has to offer. It is also great to hear that you have enjoyed your freshly cooked Scottish breakfast.

You have rated us 3 points overall with a very positive review and I wondered whether this was an error or whether you had further feedback regarding your stay. Should this be the case I would be keen to discuss this directly and please do not hesitate to contact me under dominic@hiedinburgh.co.uk

Stay original,

Dominic

The rooms were great. Really nicely decorated and really well provided for. It is a great touch to have the free mini bar. The whole hotel is really nicely decorated. Not traditional at all so if that's your thing I would steer clear. It can be a bit noisy on the front, but you're in a hotel in the city centre so what can you expect really. The location is great. Really handy for George St and a short hop to Princess St. Tram stop and bus stops directly outside. The staff were really helpful and even allowed an early check in. Fantastic. My only complaint is about the media hub, it wasn't working when we got there. I reported it, the duty manager was great and although he couldn't fix it he got us a headphone jack to play music through the clock radio which was fine. He also said he would get maintenance to look at it the next day. I'm not sure if maintenance came or not. We didn't get any message and the media hub still wasn't working. A minor point, but it would have been good to have an update or have the media hub fixed.

Room Tip: Try and get a room off the front street. The view may not be as good but the sleep may be.
