We stayed two nights at The Balmoral recently and were very impressed by our room, the hotel's location and, mostly, its service. The staff seemed eager to assist and provided wonderful advice on Edinburgh.

The hotel is beautifully located and is a majestic building. The room was very comfortable and the bed was a dream. The service was good without being outstanding with a few hold ups at check in. The breakfast was plentiful and was of good quality. The one fault we had was the cost of Internet access, in this day and age we would expect that wireless internet is part of the the package when booking into a world class hotel.
If you wish to dine in the Number One Restaurant I suggest you book before you arrive as we were there for two nights and tried to book on arrival as w told it was booked out both nights.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review following your recent stay with us at The Balmoral. I was pleased to learn that you enjoyed the central location of the hotel, as well as being impressed by both the grandeur of the building and the comfort afforded by our luxurious beds.
I am sorry that you encountered a delay during check-in. The hotel is extremely busy at this time of year and I shall certainly share your comments with our Front Office Manager to try to alleviate any similar occurrences in the future. Our Michelin-starred restaurant is equally busy and in particular during the summer months we strongly advise booking well in advance of your stay. I am sorry that we were unable to accommodate you on this occasion and sincerely hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future when you will hopefully have the opportunity to sample the culinary delights of Number One.

Yours sincerely
Franck X Arnold
General Manager

This is a beautiful, grand hotel with a rich history. And yet, the room was well appointed with all the amenities and quite large. While the room/facilities are worth writing about, it is the staff that motivated me to write this review. The service was exceptional. While maintaining the decorum of a posh hotel, all staff (from bellman to reception to restaurant) where also friendly and personable. I was treated well from the moment I walk onto the property (much appreciated after an overnight flight from the US) to the time I had to depart. The location is also ideal. I will definitely return.

If you want to be near the downtown , just live there , its little bet expensive but every thing is great , the bathroom and the bed is great , but the bad thing is the Wi-fi not free , it will cost you for 24 hours 15£ and 3£ per hour , i hope that they make the Wi-fi free because its an important thing now .

Room Tip: Suite room but its expensive .

Took one of the superior rooms and found that they did indeed put James Bond in the bathroom. Clean, quiet and excellent breakfast each morning. Have a choice of either going to the restaurant or room service for the same price. Nice touch.

Room Tip: get a superior room - much more space to move about.
