We recently spent 5 nights at the incredible Balmoral Hotel. Service and accommodations could not have been better! Fine attention to detail and excellent dining! A must stay when visiting Edinburgh! Lovely property and excellent staff!

We came here to stay to enable us to attend a friends wedding in Edinburgh. What a great hotel, staff very friendly from day arrived to day left and arriving early was no problem we were given a label for our luggage and when we came back later the luggage was already in our room. The room was fantastic even though it was the basic room it was very luxurious and the bathroom was outstanding best shower ever. The very comfy bed was turned down for you on a night if you were out, lovely touch. Breakfast was a feast and nothing was a problem for the friendly staff. The spa pool was very inviting and we made good use of it. Again staff very helpful.
The hotel is very central within good walking distance of most attractions. It is next to the railway station and even though our room overlooked a main road noise was not a problem.
We did not use the bar or have an evening meal here so cannot comment but if breakfast was anything to go on the standard of food would be good.

My only gripe was there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room I suppose they hope you will use room service. Complimentary tea and coffee were available in the pool area though.

We will definitely stay here again

This was an outstanding hotel experience. The staff, espcially the concierge, was extremely helpful and professional. The property was centrally located and the rooms, sleeping, dining, etc. were well maintained. Highly recommended.

This is a high end property in a very convenient location. Our room faced the castle so provided nice visuals especially at night when lights illuminate Edinburgh.
You'll be greeted by Robbie in full Scottish dress at the door. We came by car which we do not advise as inner city is hard to navigate with tramwork underway.
But our rental was whisked away to the agency, a huge help from the concierge staff.

The glitches involved being served food to which I'm allergic despite many advance warnings of such, and with repeated positive assurances not to worry. Wrong. The dessert did contain nuts after all, and a serious siyuation almost ensued.
We were locked out of our room the last evening which was due to an outer door closing [by a new resident?] adjoining us. Clearly done to avoid being caught smoking illegally. No one at first could get any electronic key operative, and even the mechanical key was almost a failure until the very very last attempt. All this took half an hour late in the evening.
The executive director called to apologize for the debacle and said guest behavior is not entirely controllable but they'd investigate. Never heard anything further, but the concierge agreed the cigar smoke was unmistakable.
These distractions along with a 15 Pound per day charge for wifi were off putting. In this day and age, the equivalent of $25-ish USD daily to check email is absurd in such an expensive high end property. Should be changed; if not be forewarned.
PS The bed is euro-soft so oh, my aching back.......literally.

Having lost count of the number of stays at my most favourite hotel I am eagerly awaiting another return trip on the 26th of this month! I have stayed in many nice hotels but there is something about Edinburgh and The Balmoral!! I can never recommend it enough! I adore this hotel so much we had our wedding there this year in July!! There is nothing too much for the staff they are always welcoming and genuinely friendly. The position of the hotel is amazing you could not ask for better! Rooms are gorgeous, breakfast is amazing, shopping on your doorstep! The personal touches are really nice whether it is your first stay or however many!! My next trip cannot come quick enough and having stayed in many hotels in Edinburgh no where else compares! Special mention to Elizabeth, Joseph, John and Omar who are always so welcoming cannot wait to be back!

I spent almost a week at this lovely hotel on business and brought my three sons (ages 19, 16 and 13) along. The staff knew my boys were with me so they were greeted upon arrival with cookies in our room! We had two connecting rooms, which worked out very well. The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The location is wonderful, within walking distance of most of Edinburgh's historic sites. The restaurant was very good, and very accommodating considering it was hard to take my children anywhere after 8pm! We loved being greeted each time we returned by the kilted doormen! I would certainly return to Edinburgh and would only stay at The Balmoral!!

The team at the Balmoral has been superbly attentive from the moment we walked through the door. The spa was a godsend for the tiring bodies. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Number One. It will be very hard to leave to continue our Scotland adventure. Thanks team!! Kwong's
