We stayed at the Balmoral Hotel for a long week end. Perfect central location to visit the city. Our suite was spacious and comfortable. The staff was excellent, especially in the Balmoral Bar. Lovely gym. Sadly the restaurant was already fully booked as we arrived and we did not have the opportunity to try it. What a shame!

Had a delightful stay at The Balmoral.
My wife used the Spa during the day and came out floating on air.
Pre dinner drinks in the bar were served by the highly attentive yet unobtrusive staff.
Bathrooms in rooms are huge, breakfast was perfect, staff truly excellent as always.
Have stayed here before and will return, can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

I treated three of my friends to the Balmoral Cocktail Tasting Experience for Christmas. We finally managed to coordinate our diaries, and visited on 21 June. The whole thing was fantastic. We had a lovely corner of the Balmoral Bar, comfy sofas and impeccable service. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic and informal. Sometimes, a five-star hotel can seem stuffy and formal, but that was certainly not the case here.

The cocktails themselves were delicious, and although it was set menu, making slight changes e.g. no yukky cucumber, or no peach liquors, was no trouble at all. There were six courses, an amuse bouche, a "starter", a palate cleanser, a "main course", a "dessert", followed up by a further palate cleanser, served up over three hours.

Overall, the whole thing was great. I would highly recommend this as a great way to spend an afternoon in Edinburgh :-)

Stayed here for a week for business. The location was superb, the room well appointed and finished, not a mark anywhere and certainly the best I've seen recently.

The public areas were equally well maintained and gave the grand experience I am sure the original architect had in mind. The food and service was very good too, the door man made a huge effort to get me out on time when my car didn't show for the airport. Nothing was too much trouble.

Would highly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for towards the castle.

Stayed here a few times, great location for exploring Edinburgh and the bottle of Champagne on the bed on arrival was a nice touch, even though I had to go to reception and remind them that I had this as part of the package I had booked, with a meal in the Number 1 rest, Overall a very pleasant stay and will return again for sure.

Wonderful stay for a birthday treat with friends and we were spoilt from the moment we arrived. Staff are really friendly and efficient and nothing too much trouble. Try the Balmoral Bar for cocktails before dinner and you never know who you might be sitting next to as obviously attracts any celebrities who are in town! Definitely THE place to stay in Edinburgh. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a castle view room or suite, unique views!
