“Magnificent Ale Pub”
Reviewed 6 November 2011

Fantastic warm, friendly ale pub in Tollcross. Usually a fire burning with many ales to sample. Epic Ploughman's toasties enjoyed best with an beer and a bag of kettle chips.

“Yeah great Real Ale and no crappy largers”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

Love this bar has some amazing real ales and no crappy largers for. Make such a nice change to have a bar where the larger drinker siffers and not the real ale drinker, once it got busy was a good atmosphere as well. Didn't eat.

“One of the few remaining truly traditional pubs in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 17 June 2011

This is an excellent pub. A great selection of real ales on tap, and the food offering, while very reasonably priced, is well above and beyond standard pub fare. If you're planning on going to dinner, try to be there fore 5:30 or so to get a seat. Menus are handed out at 6:00, and the tables are full by that time.
