My wife booked us the family room (12) for a one night stay and what a treat. The room was large and very comfortable it was warm and the location was very quiet. The owner is very friendly and really helpful. We needed to get in to a show and she pointed us to the correct bus and even gave us a map with exact directions. The breakfast was really good and just what we needed after a night at the theatre. I would certainly stay there again.

I am not opposed to Hotels being 'out of date' providing they are warm, clean and comfortable, and this is exactly what I discovered at this small hotel when I just turned up en spec last weekend.
The staff were very accommodating, the room was absolutely fine, breakfast was of good quality and plenty of it.
There are little extra touches such as a small residents lounge where you will find an 'Honesty' bar with lots of goodies on offer. You can also take DVD's to your room as they play from the TV (just insert in the side and off you go).
There's a wonderful Bus Service on the doorstep which takes you right into the heart of Edinburgh and for the smokers amongst you, there's a small courtyard at the side of the Hotel with chairs, tables and ashtrays.
I was in room 3 and it gets VERY warm if you keep the radiator on full as I found out on return from the City, so keep it low for a more suitable temperature.
There has been a previous review regarding WiFi signals from room 3, I had no connection problems.
I stayed for 2 days and my room was serviced on the second day, all coffee sachets etc were replenished, bins emptied and towels changed - all good.
My only concern was a dodgy bedside lamp that I made the Management aware of on departure.

Room Tip: Room 3 is at the back of the house away from the traffic, and the neighbours are quiet - next door...

Very nice hotel. Excellent spacious bedroom and bathroom with a high standard of furnishings. Excellent location with 5 minutes walk to Haymarket and end of Princes Street with variety of eateries, station and buses. Around the corner from Murrayfield and with parking. Would definitely stay again.

This is an AMAZING Hotel/B&B! The location couldn't be better. The hotel is right at a bus stop that has both local buses into town and also the Airlink bus to the airport. And, if you fancy a walk, you can easily make it into the heart of the city in 30-40mins. The hospitality was excellent! The proprietor is so welcoming and helps to get your oriented to the city. The room I was in was just fabulous! High ceilings with beautiful stucco and plenty of space...enough room for a couch, two lounge chairs, table and desk! The bathroom was up to standard as well! And, lastly, the breakfast was delicious! And the best part was the price! So reasonable for such a high quality establishment! I highly recommend this place if you're going to Edinburgh!

We have used The Edinburgh Lodge several times on our travels over the past two years, great location, fantastic rooms size (room no.5). Excellent bus route directly outside the hotel 10mins to city centre and above all the food and hospitality of Daisy the owner are nothing short of excellence. Highly recommended by two regular travellers.

Friendly hotel in good location within walking distance of Princess Street and not far from the Airport. I stayed in the only single bedroom with ensuite which was spacious, comfortable, clean and had free Wifi. Tea/Coffee was available in the room. Full Scottish breakfast was enjoyable, but you do need to request black pudding ! Staff friendly.

We spent a weekend here in October celebrating our anniversary.
We had a really lovely welcome by the owner who gave us lots of helpful information about how to get around town, as we had travelled up by train the hotel was in a perfect location for a car free weekend.
The staff were all very friendly, the breakfast was lovely and fresh and hot and the rooms were just right for a long weekend stay.
Thoroughly recommended.
