“Good for one night.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

A small hotel located in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. Nice and clean rooms, however quite difficult if you have mobility problems, lots of stairs. Steps up into the bathroom, no handrail. A nice breakfast let down with the quality of the sausages. Ideally situated for buses into the city centre. Good value for money.

Room Tip: The rear of the hotel better.

Yes we did go to Scotland and in particular Edinburgh and thoroughly enjoyed staying in The Edinburgh Lodge. Although there were not to many Scottish people around the staff in there were fantastic. Coming from the other side of the world some pointed instructions were very useful, like speed traps, but it is not revenue raising???. Anyway Mr.Gonzales and the young lady who look after the breakfast were absolutely wonderful. Thank you. The rooms were spacious enough and the bathroom had ample room (unlike some of the B&B's we frequented) well done on the amenities. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh buses outside the door or walk to Princess St (20-25 minutes) either way plus car park in front of the lodge all very convenient. We stayed an extra day. Thanks again. One thing, make sure you have lunch and dinner anywhere toward the Princess St direction as the other way the pubs and chippy are crap.

I arrived on the City Bus direct from the airport and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. (25 mins - Great value for £3.50) Nice friending welcome on arrival. Its a cute old building that has been well maintained. I was given room 1 by the front door and on entering I must say I impressed. The décor keeps with the style of the building, clean and tidy. Free wifi, Hot drinks facilities in the room. Spacious bathroom. Breakfast was included and I must say they serve the best poached eggs I ever had! 5-10 mins walk to train station. Overall very pleased and I would stay again. Highly recommended

The hotel is in a old house in a beautiful neighborhood. The rooms are not so modern, but the bed is confortable and the bathroom is very spacious. The breakfast is very good, with some options beside the traditional English. The hotel is not in the centre city, but you can reach it with a 20 minute walk. The staff was very nice with us.

The front desk service was welcoming and nice. However, the room had one of those decorative bed covers that never gets clean and it was very thoroughly stained. When we pulled pack the cover on the bed (and put it away so that we could never see it again) the sheets underneath also had stains. I don't understand why the cleaning crew would think for a second that these were OK to use. After reporting the issue, the sheets were quickly changed. The breakfast, location, and service was good besides the cleaning issue. The bus stops directly in front of the hotel and it's very easy to get every where in the city. Lastly, we gave the front desk our postcards with postage and they never made it to their destination.

With a bit more attention to detail, this would be a great place.

Room Tip: Bring your own pillows.

It's a small family owned and managed guest house..it's very clean and rooms are spacious. Rooms have free Wi-Fi and flat screen tv. The only thing I didn't like about the room is that sometimes there's no hot water in the shower!!
There's no AC in the room but I was there in August and weather was somehow cold so you won't need an AC anyway. There's a heater and extra blankets if you felt cold.
Breakfast is very basic, toast, butter n eggs. I used to have breakfast outside the hotel everyday.
staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

there's a bus stop right across the street, you take bus 24 which passes almost every 20 minutes to princess street where almost all shops are there, bus takes around 10 minutes to reach princess street.

also the airport bus passes right infront of the hotel.
I highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: No one helps you with your bags so if you have any health problems as for a room in the lower floor...
