We spent 3 nights at the Edinburgh Lodge over Hogmanay and really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was of very good standard and the staff very friendly. The rooms were a good size although décor could do with a refresh.

It was a bit of a hike into the centre of town (approx. 30 minutes walk to the castle) but buses are available outside the front door.

We especially enjoyed the full Scottish breakfasts each morning which set us up for the day.

Not really recommended for those who don't like walking.

We spend a lot of time on weekend breaks all over the UK and have stayed in much more expensive boutique hotels which we prefer to large chain run accommodation.
I booked an over night stay for my wife's birthday to see a show in town. From the moment we pulled into the hotel car park and entered the reception, we were greeted by a friendly young girl who checked us in and showed us to our double room. The room was tastefully decorated and well above our expectations given the cost including a Scottish breakfast.

Overall, we think we found a little gem that would be a great base for exploring Edinburgh city centre and would definitely be booking this hotel anytime we are back in Edinburgh. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and family.

A small hotel located in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. Nice and clean rooms, however quite difficult if you have mobility problems, lots of stairs. Steps up into the bathroom, no handrail. A nice breakfast let down with the quality of the sausages. Ideally situated for buses into the city centre. Good value for money.

Room Tip: The rear of the hotel better.

Yes we did go to Scotland and in particular Edinburgh and thoroughly enjoyed staying in The Edinburgh Lodge. Although there were not to many Scottish people around the staff in there were fantastic. Coming from the other side of the world some pointed instructions were very useful, like speed traps, but it is not revenue raising???. Anyway Mr.Gonzales and the young lady who look after the breakfast were absolutely wonderful. Thank you. The rooms were spacious enough and the bathroom had ample room (unlike some of the B&B's we frequented) well done on the amenities. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh buses outside the door or walk to Princess St (20-25 minutes) either way plus car park in front of the lodge all very convenient. We stayed an extra day. Thanks again. One thing, make sure you have lunch and dinner anywhere toward the Princess St direction as the other way the pubs and chippy are crap.

I arrived on the City Bus direct from the airport and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. (25 mins - Great value for £3.50) Nice friending welcome on arrival. Its a cute old building that has been well maintained. I was given room 1 by the front door and on entering I must say I impressed. The décor keeps with the style of the building, clean and tidy. Free wifi, Hot drinks facilities in the room. Spacious bathroom. Breakfast was included and I must say they serve the best poached eggs I ever had! 5-10 mins walk to train station. Overall very pleased and I would stay again. Highly recommended

The hotel is in a old house in a beautiful neighborhood. The rooms are not so modern, but the bed is confortable and the bathroom is very spacious. The breakfast is very good, with some options beside the traditional English. The hotel is not in the centre city, but you can reach it with a 20 minute walk. The staff was very nice with us.
