“Great tour and intro to a beautiful city”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

Highly recommend this tour. Unlike other food tours I've been on, you actually get to sit down and eat and have a drink with your group at each place. Several lovely establishments - 5 I think, with great food at each. Places I would never have found. Although a food tour, I also learnt a lot about Scottish history and the surrounding buildings in the area. As a solo traveller it's a great way to eat local food with other people and make some new friends along the way.

Thanks for the great review.
I agree the tours success is not only the food, drink and sights but often how well those on the tour mix.

“Fantastic Introduction to Edinburgh”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

From the very beginning of our efforts to set up a tour with Eat Walk Edinburgh we had a terrific experience. Alan was always responsive to our e-mails and inquiries long before we made it to town.

We found the hotel where the group was to meet where we had a beverage in the upstairs bar. Alan came and found us and escorted us to a table where we met the other four folks whom we would join for the tour.

The weather was pretty tough, raining the entire time and varrying levels, but Alan kept us from worrying about the rain with his history lessons as we walked along. We visited several very nice establishments, one of which was exclusive where the general public was not admitted. We learned about Scottish history and quisine and how the two morphed into the Edinburgh of today. A couple of the places we stopped were very much out of the way and not places we would have ever come across if left to our own devices. We went back to one of them and bought some very nice infused vodka to take home.

Take this tour, and for the most benefit throughout your entire say, go when you first arrive to Edinburgh. For us, with a 7 hour time difference, it made it easy for us to stay awake until bed time, which was also a great way to start the trip.

Thank you for the lovely review.

As you say it is a good idea to a tour such as ours at the start of your stay as it help get your barings in the city and also hopefully visit some of the places we point out on the tour.

Glad to hear my stories kept you awake, my kids say they often put them to sleep and they are in their twenties.

“Great way to be introduced to the City with a great guide and amazing food”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

Can not recommend this enough! We only had 2 days in Edinburgh and this was the perfect introduction to the city from a great, knowledgeable and friendly guide!

Great food, come with an empty stomach! We had breakfast, then the tour and didn't really need anything else. Alan the guide was also able to give us lots of recommendations for great places to eat for the rest of our time too.

There were only 3 of us and Alan the guide but that gave a really relaxed and friendly experience.

I have recommended to all my friends! Go for it, you really won't regret it!

Thanks for the lovely review.
An empty stomach, is all you need to bring on the tour to ensure you enjoy it to the full, well maybe something in case it rains.

“Absolutely fabulous! A must-do tour in Edinburgh!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We did the Eat Walk Edinburgh tour with Julie in July 2014. It was the highlight of our trip. When we booked, we thought that we would be getting a culinary tour of the city but we got so much more. We visited 5 different restaurants and ate several Scottish foods: oat-crusted herring, blood pudding, pork cheek, haggis/neeps/tatties, and cranachan. In between our restaurant visits, Julie gave us a wonderful tour of the Old and New Cities in Edinburgh. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. We learned so much about Edinburgh, Scotland, and the Scottish people. We have done many tours throughout Europe, and this was one of our favorites. We loved every second of it. If I could give this tour 6 or 7 stars, I would.
