Owner description: Eat walk Edinburgh offer two Food walking tours. One explores Edinburgh's Old & New towns and the other the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate. On each of these tours you will visit unusual/hidden restaurants, bars and shops. There will be five food tastings and three drink tastings on the tour. The guide will talk about the history of the area as you walk between venues. The Old & new Town tour (1pm-4.30pm) which has five food stops with a Edinburgh Raspberry Gin, Scottish beer and a single cask malt whisky tasting ensuring you will not need to worry about dinner in the evening. The Canongate tour (10am-1pm) enjoys six stops including a Bloody Mary cocktail and breakfast canapes to get the tour off and running. By the end there will be no need for lunch. The Old & New town tour was recommended in BBC Good Food Magazine as a "Don't miss" thing to do in Edinburgh. Delicious magazine also has it down as a must do.

The Eat Walk Edinburgh tours are absolutely an evening (or morning) well spent. You'll visit 4-5 restaurants, walking with a small group, and taste a variety both traditional and innovative foods. The tour guides know the city's history and personality well; when our guide, Julie, discovered that we were in town for a medical conference, she tailored the tour's content to include facts about medical personalities and events. The night of our tour was dour, damp, and chilly (quintessentially Scottish), but we hardly noticed. That's the sign of a great experience.

Hi

Thank you for the lovely review, I'll pass on your kind words to Julie.

I'm glad you didn't let the weather get you down.

The tour allows you to see around this wonderul city breaking the wlak with stops at some nice bars and restaurants which helps in the bad weather.

This was a good combination of a walking tour, combined with food stops. Probably 50/50. My wife is a non-drinker, and even though we had alcohol at 3 stops, it was always combined with food, and they provided good alcohol free options too. Julie was a very nice guide, and very informative. Her background was a teacher, and she was very good. They also provided ear piece radios which made this a very easy to follow tour. Without the radios it would have been difficult to hear her. She talked the entire way between stops to tell you about the various sites between the food stops. they added a new brewery/gin stop to the tour, and that was my favorite. Local food, and a fruity cocktail. The owner/manager at that stop was very informative too. Great way to spend the evening. I thought for the amount of food and drinks we received for the price of the tour was very good too.

Booked this after viewing a couple of reviews here, and boy was I glad I did. For me it was the best part of my short trip to Edinburgh, Our guide Julie was a fountain of knowledge and was very informative. It was at a leisurely pace, and the ear pieces were very functional and allowed us to hear every word without having to be sanding next to guide/
Would highly recommend this tour

Hi

Thank you for taking the time write a review it is greatyl appreciated.

The headsets with give out allow people to walk at their own pace between venues and take photos while still hearing what the guide has to say.

My friend and I had this tour in Sept/14. We had heard about it from a friend and booked it
immediately. We enjoyed the food tasting and drinks at each stop and the history of all of
the places we stopped. This tour was both interesting and enlightening. We had a great
guide who related lots of great stories from the past. This is a wonderful way to see some of
historic Edinburgh. I would definitely recommend this to visitors to Edinburgh and this shouldn't
be missed. We especially enjoyed the Scotch tasting, the haggis, the cheese to give some
examples of the food and the story of the 'cadavers'.

Had a great time on this tour. I was looking for a walking tour of Edinburgh and couldn't believe it when I found one that involved eating as well, terrific:) It was lovely learning about Edinburgh, with our lovely guide Julie and the tour helped us get our bearings for where to go back to visit, where to go back to eat and where to buy souvenirs. The food was all really nice and was exciting to try new things, we did the morning tour so had breakfast tapas with Haggis vol a vents. We met some very friendly locals along the way.
