Owner description: Eat walk Edinburgh offer two Food walking tours. One explores Edinburgh's Old & New towns and the other the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate. On each of these tours you will visit unusual/hidden restaurants, bars and shops. There will be five food tastings and three drink tastings on the tour. The guide will talk about the history of the area as you walk between venues. The Old & new Town tour (1pm-4.30pm) which has five food stops with a Edinburgh Raspberry Gin, Scottish beer and a single cask malt whisky tasting ensuring you will not need to worry about dinner in the evening. The Canongate tour (10am-1pm) enjoys six stops including a Bloody Mary cocktail and breakfast canapes to get the tour off and running. By the end there will be no need for lunch. The Old & New town tour was recommended in BBC Good Food Magazine as a "Don't miss" thing to do in Edinburgh. Delicious magazine also has it down as a must do.

We had a lovely personal tour around Canongate with Julie who really knew her stuff. It was just the four of us plus baby Daphney on the tour and right from enquiring to booking and the eat walk tour itself we felt so looked after. I was worried that we might need lunch as the tour started at 10 and finished at 1pm but no. Loved all the places we visited and the tour was perfect on our 1st day in edinburgh to get us oriented. The Dunbars Close Garden was a little slice of heaven and will look lovely when the honeysuckle, jasmine and peonies are fully out. Big thank you Julie and Alan.

Thank you so much for reviewing our tour

It sounds like you really enjoyed the tour which is brilliant. We often suggest that you take the tour early in your visit, as you mentioned, it helps to get an idea of the layout of the city. We'll be sure to let Julie know how much you enjoyed her guiding.

I really enjoyed this tour. They did a great job of accommodating my family with a small child. I loved that we got to stop at the Scottish maul whisky society. That was the highlight of the tour for me. It was s solid mix of good food and great drinks.

Thanks so much for reviewing our tour

Glad you enjoyed yourselves. We try to accommodate our guests with alternative options at some of the venues. The Scottish Malt Whisky Society is a popular venue with special whisky that is only available at the venue.

I travelled to Edinburgh for a little solo get away. The tour was just the perfect way to spend an afternoon. It opened my eyes to Scottish cuisine and learned some history along the way. I was only in Edinburgh for two days so it was a perfect activity, not to be missed. Our guide, Julie, was excellent I also enjoyed being in a small group.

What is to not like about this tour. It was an unique and very personal experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see the city from a different angle.

Great day out and the food was delicious. We had the most terrible weather but there is not much you can do about that and the food and drink more than made up for it. Fantastic way to see a city and I will be booking similar tours, if possible, whenever I go to a new place.

Thanks for doing the review of our tour

It's a shame the weather was horrible but glad to hear that the venues and food helped make up for it. The tour does help to get an idea of the layout of the city and shows you some of the more hidden places.
