Holiday Inn Edinburgh

Stayed here for a couple of nights and overall it was fine - the room quality was about what you'd expect from a Premier Inn, but with some additional touches, such as complimentary toiletries, 24hr room service, etc. If you're going to the zoo then the location is perfect, though be aware it's a bus ride to the town centre/castle/etc. unless you like a good walk - I think there's a complimentary bus service for hotel guests, though I didn't use it myself as I was driving. Things to watch for: the bathrooms are surprisingly small, though they're well enough appointed and the showers are fine. Also on the small side were the elevators - there's three of them, but any more than three people in one at the same time felt crowded, especially when people had suitcases as well.

I'd recommend trying the room service breakfast - it arrived on time and was hot, and tasty, which isn't always a given when I order room service breakfasts unfortunately. Biggest disappointment was Wi-Fi - it was something like £16 a day they wanted for access, so I didn't bother and just used 3G instead. Coverage was fine.

Despite that though I thought my stay provided good value for money and I would stay again if the location suited me.

Room Tip: The layout is sort of an "upside down T shape". South rooms have a lovely view, but face...

Thanks for submitting a review and sharing your comments. Although the Holiday Inn Edinburgh does not run a complimentary shuttle service to town or the airport, there are very frequent public transport links to both and our team can certainly break down any notes to the required exact change for the journey.

Thanks again, and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay.

Stayed here for one night, with the intention of just going to the zoo. Hotel is literally right next door so it was ideal. Couple of restaurants within walking distance, only thing I would criticise is the car park, very small and it seemed people going to the zoo were using it (as the zoo car park is £4) the hotels overflow car park was the zoo which you had to pay the £4 unless it was between 5pm-10am. Overall was a pleasant stay and would return. About 4 miles from princes street

Thank you so much for writing such a positive review. Our own car parking spaces are fairly limited, and when full our guests are more than welcome to use the Zoo car park. If £4 is paid there for the parking our team will gladly refund it at the reception desk as we offer parking complementary.

The 2.5 mile journey to Princes Street takes around 15 minutes by bus, and services are very frequent from the hotel.

We're all glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and will return.

stayed here through a last minute booking; room was a bit small and view poor but I didnt pay full price so it wasnt an issue. The staff are extremely well trained -they help out immediately if a colleague is busy. As a female travelling alone, the friendly approach by bar staff when I booked a meal was very much appreciated. The hotel is next to the zoo (see the pandas!); opposite a car rental shop and on the bus route to the city (and the hotel has parking). It seems a great place for a short break. Well done to the staff and their trainers!

Room Tip: pay full price I guess!

I'm very glad to hear you we're so well looked after by the team and thank you for highlighting how helpful we were.

The rooms with a view to the south and east are probably the best as you can see the Pentland Hills and Castle respectively, although the north and west can see into the zoo over the car park so many enjoy those as well. We will gladly allocate a preference regardless of price subject to availability.

We hope you can stay with us again.

As We stayed at the holiday inn It was so close to edinburgh zoo. When we got there everything seemed to be ok posh entrance not alot of car parking spaces. When we got to the hotel room we were just far too tired to complain due to traveling from south. There was a big red stain outside door, furniture was falling to pieces, stains on bathroom sink, stains on the curtains. We payed something like £89.00 for 1 nights stay. The bed was as if we were on a trampoline. Morning wasnt good either, we waited ages for coffee, food was been handled bare handed by staff were the crossaints were and dishes were dirty. We checked out very early and me and my husband said never again. Got photos to prove and back up my theroy of this hotel.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and sharing your comments. While it disappoints me to hear that you found a number of stains in and around your room, I certainly value your feedback and will use this to help us maintain a much higher standard throughout the hotel.

I can confidently say that this is a very rare occurrence and it surprises me that there were so many unfortunate events during your short stay. Food should never be handled by bare hands, and our team in food and beverage are all aware of this. I shall raise your comments with the department manager and ensure this never happens again.

Please accept my very sincere apologies that we didn't get it right this time, and that what you experienced is well below our usual standards, if you would like to discuss this in more detail please feel free to contact me directly. Particularly if you plan to visit Edinburgh again in future.

We were a coach party of 53 older ladies and gents and were ideally situated for our visits to bowls clubs in the area.

The hotel breakfasts were very good, of a high quality and varied to suit all tastes. We found all the staff friendly and the Group Booker was extreemly helpful. Handy for the Zoo (next door) and only minutes from the Princess shopping area.

Sadly we didnt have time to try out the leisure facilities but they looked vg.The only critiscm would be the cost of drinks, although they did us a small discount, they were still expensive for us Seniors.

We stayed here in March and were really impressed. Room was a good size and clean. Good choice of pillows. We didn't have TV remote control and night porter was very helpful and friendly. All staff were lovely and couldn't haven't been more welcoming or helpful.
It is 5 minutes out of town -but depends on what you ar in Edinburgh for. Its very close to Murrayfield and right next door to the zoo - which means you wake up to some lovely (and disconcerting) tropical dawn chorus. We travelled back and forth to the centre on the bus. took 5-10 minutes. Bus stops right outside the hotel and we never waited more then 5 minutes -even at 11pm. Day ticket is £3.50 which was excellent value.

We didn't use the restaurant or the wifi so couldn't comment on them. But all in all very happy with our stay and will no doubt stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review of your recent stay. Sorry to hear you didn't have a remote control in your room, and glad our night porter managed to remedy that.

This hotel has a perfect location, close to airport and city center, bus very often just in front of the hotel, very close of the zoo.
This hotel is really nice. We booked a guest bedroom, confortable but little things were missing: no fridge, dress bath...
Something surprising in the bathroom, an ad saying not to put water on the floor because if the bedroom carpet receives water, we can be charged for that...
But the shower was not easy to use, so, it was very difficult to avoid a bit of water on the floor. We did our best, but in my opinion, it s a bit strong to put this kind of recommandation.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay. While it is great to hear you found the location convenient for your requirements in Edinburgh I am disappointed that you found the service not to be at a very high standard.

Our bath robes come with executive rooms, or a purchased 'Executive Package' which includes chocolates, short bread, mineral water, enhanced decor, chiller, iron & iron board, safe and room with a panoramic view of the city centre. Having said that, if we have any bath robes available we would be more than happy to deliver to your room at your request.

The note in the bathroom regarding the wet floor is a safety note to remind our guests to shower with the curtain inside the bath, so as to reduce risk of stepping out onto wet floor tiles, and we do provide bath mats in every room to add to this safety. You need not worry about any charge for wet tiles in the bathroom, as this is specifically in reference to water damage to the bedroom carpet which would incur specialised cleaning, similar to that for a guest smoking in the room.

Thank you again for writing a review and I hope I've managed to clear up any misunderstanding.
