Stayed at the hotel for two nights on a recent family visit to Edinburgh due to it's central location and being Marriott Reward members. Initial greeting was not too friendly with reception staff appearing just to go through the motions. I had requested a quiet room away from lifts so was some what dismayed when we found our room was opposite one. A fruitless trip back down to reception requesting a room change only to be told all double, double rooms were adjacent to the lifts (the fire escape plan in our room appeared to indicate differently). Room was very spacious but lacked a bedside table at one side of a bed and there were various things missing from the kitchenette. The shower and toilet room is very small but adequate for our needs. Breakfast on the first morning was busy and we ended up using a table in the lobby. Again not ideal but manageable. Our young son was woken up by guests returning late on our second night due to our proximity to the lift (annoying !). We left it a bit later to go to breakfast on our second morning and this was better. We got a table straight away and the food was still hot and plentiful.
