My husband and I wanted to do something special for our 25th anniversary and we decided on going to Edinburgh . What a wonderful charming city.
Our hotel was wonderful and the people that worked there charming as well.
Keith went out of his way everyday to help us discover some of the best reataurants, and sites... all walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast staff was pleasant and helpful too. Breakfast is included, and it did not disappoint. They were happy to make us anything we asked for. like porridge, which we ate every morning.
Keith suggested we visit the Dome and we ended up visiting it a few times to enjoy the majestic Christmas decorations.
This hotel is in great location. We walked to everything except the mystical Rosslyn castle.
The hotel staff recommended we take the day bus there, a 3.50 pound day ticket. That's the way to see this place. I almost booked a tour that would have been 30 pounds but saw it didn't include price of admission, which would have been another 9 pounds... definitely take the local bus, #15, also within a short walk of the hotel.
Loved the double decker bus ride, and if you look at pics below, you'll see we had it all to ourselves on the way back.
We were extremely pleased with our five day stay. We had a room on the top floor with a nice view.
If you don't mind wintry weather, we thought Nov. was a beautiful time to visit this magical city.
We would love to return and would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: We would suggest the top floor , at least in the wintertime

Though I like Marriotts I typically do not state Residence Inn's. I stayed at this hotel because a bunch of business associates were planning to stay there. Turned out to be a great idea.

Hotel is in a very nice area right by University of Edinburgh and The Meadows. Close walk too many tourist destinations and restaurants.

Hotel looks brand new. Rooms were clean, modern and for Europe quite spacious. Continental breakfast was fine but nothing superior. Still, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed here on Saturday 17th November 2013

We came up for the Peter Hook gig at the Liquid Room in Victoria St.
Our room was ready for us when we arrived which was a pleasant surprise as it was fairly early in the morning. We were in room 115 on the first floor; it was very spacious and spotlessly clean. There is a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave and a dishwasher and plenty of crockery and glasses
The bathroom is a wetroom and fitted out for disabled guests, whether this is the same for all the rooms I don't know. There are even two peepholes in the door, one at the height of a wheelchair user, which I thought was a nice touch.

Reception was extremely friendly and efficient; there are a couple of comments about it doubling up as the breakfast space but I didn't see it as a problem, the smell of warm toast was very welcoming I thought.

Location wise, it is close to the University and about a 10-15 minute walk from the Royal Mile.

We used the Airlink bus from the airport to Waverly Station which took about 30 mins and cost £3.50 one way. For the journey back we took a taxi which cost just over £20

Room Tip: Our room was facing the office(?) block quite close opposite which might be worth bearing in mind when wandering around au naturel

We stayed here for 2 nights on a recent visit to Edinburgh and were very happy with it. Our room had a kitchen area with a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The bed was really comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. Great shower, too! Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good.

Loved the location - Sainsbury's around the corner and close to the National Museum of Scotland.

Very clean, spacious modern rooms. A small separate kitchen area with fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Strange set up in the bathroom in that the sink was situated outside the bathroom, but very nice. Our room faced an office block which, fortunately was closed by the time we arrived, but I think during the day privacy may be a bit of an issue. You would have to keep the curtains closed. Breakfast was in the lobby and was a buffet style arrangement and very tasty. The staff were all extremely helpful. Couldn't have asked for better.
