Stayed at this hotel for 1 night and it was a very good stay. We had a studio room, with a small kitchen in the entrance, the rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated - modern in style. The bathroom is small without a bath, just a shower but this is a large enclosure and a powerful shower. The room has a wooden floor which we found problematic as the bed moved around when we sat on it. We put face cloths under the wheels to stop it and this seemed to work! Maybe something for management to address.

Staff were very helpful and happy to provide advice on the area and how to get to attractions.

Breakfast is complimentary and very nice with both hot and cold options available, there are also facilities to take food upto your room which is good especially as the dining area got quite busy (we were staying on a bank holiday weekend so the hotel was pretty busy)

The hotel itself is set in the quarter mile area of Edinburgh which is around the university and approx a 10 minute walk to the castle / royal mile etc.

The Residence Inn, Edinburgh is a nice new Hotel in the Quartermile area of Edinburgh.

I stayed here with my wife for one night around Easter 2014. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the tourist destinations.

Our room was very nice with its own small kitchen which included a microwave.
The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant.

The figure of 3 out of 5 is for a few irksome things which marred our stay.
1) There was no ventilation in the room and we were unable to open the window to get some fresh air.
2) The breakfast area is next to the check-in desk at reception and not very big. When we went for breakfast it was very busy and we had to wait to find a seat.
3) Public underground car parking is adjacent to the hotel and a discount is offered for those staying at the hotel. Unfortunately, although our parking ticket was processed, we did not receive a discount when we paid for our parking. The processing of the ticket by the staff at reception did not work. We were in a hurry to leave and did not have time to return to reception to rectify this.

Stayed for 2 nights in April.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast included is great. Very relaxed style in the morning but plenty of choice.

Hotel does get warm due to no AC but opening windows helps to keep room at desired temp.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We only had a short stay at this hotel with friends and have to say it was fabulous the rooms are first class and are bright and spotless. Lovely to have kitchen facilities if you need them. What made it even better were the staff who couldn't do enough for you. They were all friendly and chatty and nothing was a problem for them. Well done Marriott would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable and friendly place to stay int the centre of Edinburgh.

This is a very modern hotel about a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile. Our train arrived much too early for check in but the staff were more than happy to store our luggage leaving us free to explore the city. We had booked a larger style room and were not disappointed. A huge room with king size bed, large sofa and easy chair. Incredible to have a kitchen with fridge, microwave and even a dishwasher. There was a good choice for breakfast though the area to eat in is quite small. However it is not a problem if you prefer to take the food to your room. All of the staff we met were very young but they were all extremely efficient, very pleasant and couldn't do enough to ensure you had a great stay. I wish our stay had been longer and it would certainly be my first choice if I came to Edinburgh again.

Delighted I chose this hotel for our weekend through in Edinburgh. We only stayed a Saturday night but were sad we didn't stay longer.
I had asked for a room on a higher floor in case of any street noise. Turns out the hotel is down a quiet little street anyway and we were upgraded to a suite for no extra cost. Woo!
Very impressed with the standard of the whole place, the cleanliness and the staff were very friendly. Fastest check in and out I think I've ever experienced. Breakfast was very nice but I can't comment on dinner as we went out to eat.
Definitely recommend this hotel and next time I need a hotel in Edinburgh this will be the first place I look up.

This is not only a really comfortable place to stay in a great location near the centre of Edinburgh, the staff are happy to go that bit further to make life easy for you. We stayed this weekend and on arrival the front desk staff were more than helpful sorting out an problem with the points I was using to pay for the stay. In addition, although earlier than the normal check-in time, we were able to get into our room, which was spotless, very spacious and had very mod con.
The staff asked if there was anything we needed every time we passed the front desk, fresh milk for tea was offered without need to ask and it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for these guys. I stay here any time I gave the chance and thoroughly recommend them, both for quality of facilities but especially for excellent customer service.

Room Tip: They're all good, but if you like a view over sunny parks, ask for one on the south side looking...
