“Convenient location, good facilities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Stayed there for four nights in May. Liked the convenient location - plenty of buses to catch from Forrest Road - taking you to the Botanic Garden, Ocean Terminal, Airport, Holyrood Park etc.

Breakfast is good (hot and cold) and they even let you take some away! Hot breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, black pudding. Cold stuff includes pastries and plenty of fruits to keep you healthy.

Facilities - I saw cooking rings in some pictures I think but we didn't get that in our room, just a microwave and dishwasher. Fitness room is small with just a cross trainer, 2 treadmills and free weights.

Staff very friendly and it's nice to have people greeting you with a smile every morning.

One comment for the hotel - would like to have another door between the sink and the room, as the sliding door for the bathroom is not very secure, or sound-proof.

Room Tip: Ask for the catering facilities you need in the room.

Excellent stay here. We visited from May 9-May 13. Upon arrival we were greeted by Paul in reception who was very helpful and accommodating. We just got off an overnight flight and although it was only 11am he got us checked into a room (with free upgrade!) right away. Room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast Buffett was excellent many choices and very tasty. Prime location walking distance to everything. We didn't take transport once! One of the best hotels we have ever stayed.

Located in the part of the city called Quatermile, combination of old and modern houses and few steps to the big and green park. Location is very nice, it will take you max. 15 minutes walking to reach Royal Mile. Public parking is 50 m from the hotel and costs 12.80 GBP if you validate the parking ticket at the reception (parking is convenient and big enough, so I consider that price is fair). Finishing with location aspect I should mention that supermarket (opened until 10.p.m. Every day and until 9 p.m. on Sundays) is just two blocks away from the hotel which is very convenient. I consider this hotel location really strategic.

Rooms are big, enough light, kitchenette is nice and convenient (microwave oven Bosch, dish washing machine Bosch, stainless steel design), fridge, plates, cups, glasses, everything was there. Bed is comfortable and clean (a little bit too high – ok for me, but might be important for some visitors). Shower is big enough, water pressure was perfect. Room cleaning could be improved. No air-conditioner. Iron, fan, hair-drier and safe box are provided in the room.

Wi-fi connection is more or less stable, not too fast and you have to connect (log in) every 24 hours.

Breakfast was ok (the only minor point – no vegetables – normally it is a must for 4* hotel), but they had water melon instead... Choices are pretty fine, everything absolutely fresh and acceptable. Coffee quality was a little bit poor (imho, I got used to Italian style) but it compensated with a possibility to take-away, hotel provides paper cups. Starbucks is 10 meters away from the hotel.

Staff is enough friendly and welcoming, breakfast staff is a bit too slow to clear tables but at the same time hospitable.

Could easily recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Edinburgh and should mention that hotel is comfortable and conveniently located.

A gem of a hotel located just outside the hustle and bustle of the royal mile. Suites are well appointed, staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the breakfasts are delicious. The large suites are perfect for spreading out and having a bit of space at the end of a long day of sightseeing. So nice to stay in a high quality newer hotel that has many of the comforts of home.

Room Tip: The quietest rooms are on closest to the walkway, not the road.

I have spent almost 4 months in this hotel for work and I could not be any happier.

The stuff is the most professional and helpful I have even seen. They are so kind, polite and friendly, they make you feel like home.

The rooms are very modern and come with state of the art domestic appliances which are really useful (fancy cooking home tonight? No problem!)

The location is absolutely fantastic! 10 minutes walk from the castle, in a nice, clean and safe area with all the amenities around

I stayed at the Residence Inn Edinburgh with my family in April 2014 for six nights. We had a great time in Edinburgh and the hotel was incredible. The location of the hotel is very good, with easy access to the Royal Mile (a 5 minute walk) and Princes St (a 15 minute walk - or 10 minute bus ride). The rooms were very clean and quite large, with plenty of space for a family. The bathrooms were incredible, with large walk in showers and very modern appliances. Breakfast is served daily, with many different options. Wi-fi is also included. The staff was incredibly helpful - Paul at the front desk was especially friendly and knowledgeable. The area around the hotel is really nice too - there is a Starbucks and Sainsbury's right next door. I would highly recommend this hotel for your next visit to Edinburgh - we will definitely be back.
