We ate at Kanpai this past weekend for lunch. We were initially disappointed when we sat down and were told that there was no tuna or sweet prawn....How does a sushi place not have tuna?!?!? But, we were already there and it was raining, so we decided to stay. And I am so glad that we did! The lack of tuna meant that we were "forced" to try all kinds of other things that we don't usually order and everything was delicious! It's not cheap, but "cheap" and "sushi" are two words that I don't usually like to see combined, so I'm okay with that. The grilled nigiri (we had scallop and sea bass) was delicious, as were all the rolls we tried. We didn't make reservations, but we got there right when they opened and were able to get a seat. After we had finished eating, the restaurant was quite full, so I would definitely recommend reservations.
