“Still smiling, one month on...”

Well, do I really want to forfeit my chance of booking this again by letting you in to my secret and favourite place to stay? I will have to book early the next time as I think this will become extremely popular!!!

6th time in Edinburgh over the last four years and finally found home! Travelled solo this time and felt comfortable and secure in my funky apartment. Modern style in an historic building. Always loved this part of town so to actually stay here was brilliant.

Look out the front living room window and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the busy street. Look out the kitchen window at the back and you are faced with the silent, relaxing and rich history and architecture of the Kirkyard. Especially good if you like spooky scenery at night! It's amazing.

Didn't want for anything within the apartment and it surpassed my expectations. It's actually bigger than it looks in the photos. Everything from booking to arriving was straight forward and Axel gave me a very friendly welcome.

Love it..miss it...will return. :)

“Very well-appointed and well-situated!”
Reviewed 2 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

I grew up knowing the story of Greyfriars Bobby, so when I found Greyfriars Bobby Apartment, right in front of the kirkyard, I was beyond thrilled. When we arrived, we were not disappointed!

This flat is situated in Edinburgh's Old Town directly in front of Greyfriars Kirk (which has a phenomenal kirkyard), and right across the street from the National Museum of Scotland. It's also only a 5 minute walk from the Royal Mile. The view from every window shows beautiful historic Edinburgh, including a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle from the kitchen! My husband and I would stand at the windows and just watch, it was that cool. You could see the much-visited statue of Greyfriars Bobby himself out our front window. Restaurants, shops, and pubs are on every side and within a short walk if you want to explore. The University of Edinburgh is also a 5-10 minute walk in the opposite direction from the Royal Mile. You're right in the thick of things and this makes getting around extremely easy and enjoyable.

Axel is a phenomenal host and made sure that we had everything we needed upon arrival. This flat was immaculate and very well-appointed. They thought of everything! Axel has even made up a binder with maps, recommendations for food and sight-seeing, and loads of other useful information. That bathroom was quite big, there were also laundry facilities in the kitchen, a dishwasher, ironing board, you name it. But perhaps the most thoughtful thing? He even stocked the fridge with milk, juice, and jam and provided tea and a loaf of bread to get us started. Also, this flat has free wi-fi, which as fantastic!

My husband and I hope to return to Edinburgh some day, and we will definitely be contacting Axel if we do. This was hands down our favourite place that we stayed on our 3-week trip to Scotland. We will be recommending Greyfriars Bobby Apartments to friends and family. Thanks, Axel!

“Brilliant central apartment”
Reviewed 21 May 2012 for a stay in September 2011

What a great apartment this is. The manager, Axel, is very helpful and a minefield of useful information about the best places to eat and visit. The apartment itself is freshly decorated with everything you'll need during your stay. Everything was spotlessly clean and it really felt like a home from home. Would definately stay here again.

“Lovely flat in excellent city-centre location”
Reviewed 4 May 2012 for a stay in April 2012

Avery well equipped and welcoming flat in an excellent location for exploring Edinburgh. Located overlooking Greyfriars Kirk Churchyard, it's less than 5 minutes walk to the Royal Mile.

Besides the location, the things we loved best were the colourful furnishings, which were much more imaginative than most blandly anonymous rental flats; spacious rooms including a huge kitchen; a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and an open fire.

The owner/manager was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival with lots of useful information about the area.

Two minor downsides: the entrance hall/stairway felt a bit like a dodgy alleyway, but this was soon forgotten when we got inside the apartment itself. There was also no onsite recycling facilities so we had to find these ourselves (a short walk away on the university campus).

All in all though, an excellent place to stay if you want to see Edinburgh - it definitely gets our recommendation!

I am raving about Grayfriar's Bobby because it was simply extraordinary. We just returned to the states after staying three days in Axel's apartment. As other of his tenants have noted: Axel leaves nothing undone! We followed his tips (contained in a loose-leaf notebook of helpful information) with complete assurance. His restaurant suggestions were perfect for us--wine lovers who like good food at moderate prices. Out the front window is a view of the new wing of the Museum of Scotland--which we visited twice. Out the back is a view of the Grayfriar's Kirk: Scotland New and Old. I forgot the charger to my Ipad and Axel showed up with his daughter's to help me out! There was milk, juice, and coffee on hand when we arrived. Oh my. I want to go back right now and stay longer in Grayfriar's Bobby apartment--as long as Axel is in charge!

“Great apartment in center of Edinburgh old town”

The apartment location is superb and within walking distance to all attractions and close by to pubs and eating places to suite all. The finish and decor is of a high spec and the apartment has everything you would need when away from home. Axel the owner was brilliant and met us to show us around the apartment plus advise us on car parking for our three day stay, even taking us to the spot then giving us tips on the best pubs and restaurants around the area of the apartment.
An all round excellent apartment with a lovely owner willing to help and assist you while you enjoy the city of Edinburgh.

“Excellent apartment in perfect old town location. Home from home.”

Lovely apartment in a perfect location not far from any of Edinburgh's attractions. I would definitely recommend this to couples looking for self catering accommodation in the heart of Edinburgh. It has everything you need for a comfortable short stay and the owner was very helpful throughout.
