Whilst staying in Edinburgh, we decided to stop here for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. We had small children with us and there is a family areas where they can sit out of the way of the main bar. The menu is the standard one for Wetherspoons, but you can't fault the prices. The barman was knowledgeable regarding the guest ales and provided us with a good recommendation. Food service was also very fast and sauces were readily available in bottles rather than in small sachets. This is a big pub, with a good atmosphere when it is busy, which it seemed to be most of the time that we were there.

Set in a lovely old building, with great atmosphere comes everything you expect from a Weatherspoons. A rainy early evening saw the place buzzing but we got a seat straight away and the food "chicken Wednesday" literally followed us to the table after ordering. Friendly staff, very reasonable prices and delicious food, makes this a place I would thoroughly recommend.

Set in a former Bank of Scotland building this is a stunning place with excellent original features and a beautiful main hall. Not that we had much time to admire this fine old building as within minutes we were pounced on and told that children were not allowed in this part of the building, even though it was only 09:30 and we were in for breakfast. I must confess that I didn't see any sign saying no children allowed but having been up since 03:00 and starving I didn't really pay much attention, so there may well have been signs.

We were allowed to dine in one of the rooms off the main hall so we sat in a darker side room instead, hidden away.

We ordered 4 Scottish breakfasts which, to be fair, arrived in less than 10 minutes, meaning they were not freshly cooked, and some of the items did indeed have the texture of being cooked a while before and left under the lamps. But for the price (£20 for the four of us including drinks) it wasn't a bad meal, and not a bad price.

Cheap, reasonably edible and in and out quickly.

Tipical Witherspoon place. Staff friendly especially the older guy who served our food. No sooner had we ordered a brunch burger and chicken salad than it was in front of us . Considering the place was busy I guess the burger was pre cooked. The bin was like days old and bet dry. As was the chicken. Hadith better in other Witherspoons and wont be hurrying back for food.

My husband and I were on our first visit to Edinburgh and asked our tour guide for a recommendation for a casual dinner. He directed us here and we were glad he did. After wandering around looking for a table and admiring the architecture and space, we were lucky to get one in what I would describe the library room. Loved the atmosphere there. We both had one of the curry specials of the night and were not disappointed -- tasty, hot, and good-sized portions served quickly by a friendly waiter. Looking around, it appeared to us that everyone (and it was crowded!) was enjoying their meals and the space. If we are ever in Edinburgh again, we would go here again.
