5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014 via mobile

I love little businesses that go that extra mile for you, and this is certainly one of them :)
Food is always 100% fresh, whether you sit in or takeaway,to top it off the owner is so friendly and kind, nothing is a bother and never rushes you, and great value for money !

“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2014

We were a group of 5 and we all had a great night at this very welcoming friendly restaurant. Tina the owner could not have been more accommodating. Everyone enjoyed their food thanks to their great chef. Service was excellent. We were even given complimentary Chinese liqueurs after our meal. Will definitely be back. Excellent value for money. Byob an added bonus. Many thanks for a great night.

“Great food, shame about the hypothermia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014

My friend and I recently met for dinner and went to the Shangri-La. Tina, the owner, was very friendly and attentive and the food was great. They offer a table d'hote as well as a la carte. My friend and I chose the former menu and there was a great choice.

The food was very tasty and obviously freshly made but the restaurant itself was freezing! There are two small heaters at the front of the restaurant and that's your lot. It was a really cold, windy night and another couple of heaters were definitely required.

I will be back but not until the summertime!

“Terrible”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

Ordered a chicken chow mein and a chicken satay on hogmanay. Can honestly say this was the worst Chinese ive ever had in my life. The chow mein was drenched in a gloopy, tasteless sauce and the chicken was definitely not chicken. It was clearly some processed rubbish which had a jelly-like texture. The chicken satay was just as bad, with another gloopy MSG ridden sauce which had a strange taste through it. Just to top it all off I was sick twice afterwards. Great prawn crackers though. Never usually write bad reviews but this place truly is awful.

“Excellent Service and value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

The Shangri-La is a small restaurant, seating less than 30, so when we booked a table for 14, we took up most of the tables. As it turned out, on the mid-week night in the run up to Christmas, we were the only diners that night, but a steady stream of take-aways were produced through-out the night.
We were served by the owner and one other watress and their attention to detail was excellent. We all ate off the set menu for £12.95 each, except one of our number, who wished to have a plain dish and this was accommodated without any issue and served at the same time as everyone else.
The food was fresh and plentiful and the fried rice was served from a communal bowl as most people had gone for this option with their mains. With the restaurant operating a BOYB policy, we had an excellent meal for excellent value for money.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant for its faultless food and service.
