“Cheap Food, Good Service and Can't Fault The Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

Visited one Friday lunchtime as it is near to my work and fancied a change. Was quite busy with students and young Mums, not surprising really as it is bang next door to the Napier Sighthill campus and also a health clinic. It wasn't as busy as I expected but perhaps it was a bit early in the day. No trouble getting a table and they were all quite clean. You find a table, note the number and order at the bar. No cash with me, but there was no problem about opening a tab with my debit card.

The food is incredibly cheap, I expect mostly microwaved as my curry arrived less than ten minutes after ordering! But the food was ok and met my expectations. Cost was less than a tenner for curry, rice, naan bread and a couple of poppadums plus a soft drink. Tables were clean and the service was good. Staff seemed genuine when they checked that everything was ok, cleared the table promptly, brought my bill when asked and explained various special offers.

Visited the toilets which were basic standard but really clean and smelt fresh - made a nice change as they are normally dreadful in cheap menu pubs.

Conveniently located off a duel carriageway with plenty of parking and right next to a BP petrol station. All in all a good experience

“NEVER SAY NEVER TO A FREE MEAL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

This must our third of fourth visit to Crofters.Being a short walk from the house you don't have any worries about parking! The menu layout has changed somewhat from previous visits and is heavy reliant on pretty pictures to guide you through what is on offer. There are a number of interesting additions to the normal"Pub Grub" menu, and whilst the other members of my family stuck to the old favourites,Haddock in batter with chips and side salad and Chilli Burgher and chips,I went for the grilled chicken breast with noodles and side salad, which was very tasty and a welcome change
to my usual. Depending on what day you visit you may get a free sweet thrown in on this occasion it was Profitoroles and fresh cream.all in all this was a tasty treat and Crofters does give good value for your money, which is probably why it is popular with students from the nearby college.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2012 via mobile

A john barras pub which caters for the hungry customer too, foods okay, service ok, bit slow on clearing your table however which can leave the place looking cluttered and dirty , Pool table in the bar area.. its an ok sit inn for pub grub.

“Surprisingly Good Grub!!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2012

Had one of the best cooked steaks ever here, was very pleasantly surprised at good quality food, just goes to show, don't judge a book by it's cover or location!!!!! I've been in expensive steak houses and can honestly say, my steak could have come from one of the best! Maybe it was just a fluke as i'm particular about how I like it cooked but it was almost perfect to my taste!!! Only thing that I felt could be improved upon was service at the bar, there was a few people seated and only myself awaiting service at the bar but I was ignored for several minutes and eventually had to call upon someone to serve although I was seen by 2 members of staff prior to this. Up the service, decor and atmosphere and they could be onto a winner. Full marks for food! :-)

“GOOD PUB GRUB”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012

I have visited this bar several times and have always decided to stay for lunch, this pub has recently been done up and the interior has vastly improved.
The menu for this bar is pretty good and the selection of meals/side salads/starters and desserts are not disappointing, the portions are good and thoroughly cooked.
I recommend the steak baguette, absolutely delicious, and the fudge cake with icecream.Reasonable priced too, good offers on drinks too.

The pub has free wi-fi,disabled facilities, pool table and dart board in bar not lounge, shows football on big screens, sky sports, smoking area.
The pub is clean and theres always a good atmosphere,
