“Great customer service and after care”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

This hotel is on an industrial estate near the Gyle shopping centre, adjacent to the Edinburgh Park railway station. This means that you are limited for places to go on a short walk from the hotel but you have the advantages of a great transport link into the city centre (£2.90 off peak return, duration of journey about 12 minutes, trains until 11:30 pm) and free car parking.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, the breakfast buffet was of good quality and the rooms were very clean. I paid for the wifi, which was a reasonable £3 for 24 hours. It was stable and worked every time I needed it.

The aftercare given by this hotel has impressed me the most. I had a problem during my stay, and since then I have had a long conversation with the duty manager of the hotel who has talked of the ways they can prevent this happening again. Most hotels forget you once you check out, but this was really appreciated.

This premier inn is out of town but is located right next door to Edinburgh park railway station. Trains from here take 11 mind to get into Waverley and are very frequent. Very clean and rooms of good standard with hairdryers and tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. Would stay here again.

As previous reviewers pointed out, this hotel is indeed in an industrial estate currently being developed. It is not in the city centre.

My guess this is to attract business customers, however don't discount this hotel as a tourist as it is right on the doorstep of Edinburgh Park Train Station, from there you are 2 stops to Waverley Station. In short for budget accomodation with easy transport links to the city centre then this is hard to beat. Not only that, free car parking.

We booked this hotel for an overnight whilst at the festival, in no way could we afford to stay over in the city centre with the ridiculous prices hotels are charging in an attempt to fleece tourists. We could hardly believe our luck at getthing a family room for £94 for the night. In the morning we bought breakfast (buffet) for £8.25 per adult and our daughter (under 16) ate free. Breakfast was very nice and the girl that served us was also very pleasant and chatty.

We arrived at midnight to check in, there is a machine to check in, I've never stayed in a Premier Inn and had pressed the buzzer for a girl to come out. The girl came out and helped us, explaining everything we needed to know. We were impressed by the friendlieness/helpfulness of the staff as, to be honest we weren't expecting that much from Premier Inn at all in terms of service.

The staff were lovely, the hotel was clean and we had a comfy peaceful nights sleep. Much better than we were expecting and especially during such an expensive time of year. Hope that next year they don't hike the prices as we would come back again (probably for more than 1 night).

The hotel is quite new so hope that it' also that it stays as clean/fresh as it is just now.

Also hope they treat their lovely staff well and hang onto them:)

My wife and I spent two nights at the Gyle and it merits a five star rating. The staff member we met at reception was friendly and helpful.

It is new and the rooms are bright and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We did not use the bar or the dining room but the service we received (for extra tea and milk) was again friendly and helpful. We managed to get the room for £39 per night (a bargain at the height of the Festival).

The No2 bus takes 40 minutes to reach Nicholson Square (just past the Grassmarket). The bus stop is right outside the hotel. Be warned however that the evening bus service from the city centre does not travel as far as the hotel and you could find yourself stranded on the outskirts of a housing estate. If you are going to be travelling to the hotel in the evening I would suggest you take the train. It is a 15 minute journey from Edinburgh Waverley to Edinburgh Park and the station is across the road from the hotel.

Compared to other Premier Inn's, this one is quite good in terms of it being modern.

But they do let themselves down in areas.

This hotel is situated on a business park. Why ? Because they want to attract and retain the business traveller. Thats all well and good. But when 2 or 3 busloads of tourists roll in, the hotel gets very busy and the service level drops quite a bit. The impact is that the business traveller gets shunted and treated indifferently. The week on week business travellers should get some sort of priority and treated specially, not ignored. The restaurant seems particularly poor at this.

Would also be nice if the staff weren't so precious at times as false accusations can sometimes ensue and this causes offence.

This Premier Inn is often more expensive than those in London - they need to get prices down - £400 for a 3 night stay ? Something is wrong there. You could fly in/out on a daily basis for less.

Wifi should also be free to regular guests.

Definitely improvements to be made here before I'd rate them as a preferred hotel.

Room Tip: Pick the top floor if you travel there regularly, away from the train line (although its not that no...

Just stayed overnight at the new Premier Inn at Edinburgh Park - and it's an excellent spot. Very easy access to the M8, parking easy, very easy access to Edinburgh via the nearby train station. Cost was £118, which is good value considering the Fringe is on. Hotel room great, double bed was firm, and it had aircon. Missed breakfast, but the attached Costa Coffee is a good place to chill out and work from. Highly recommended.
