The hotel is very new and neat.It is very well located close to a train station with very often conections to the city centre. You can forget about your car for visiting Edinburgh.
It also has a nice restaurant with no aspirations to earn a Michelin star but ofering the possibility to eat late dinner if you are not interested in doing so downtown.
Service in the restaurant is somehow amateurish but overall I would rate it as good. Breakfast is very good.
The hotel is hard to find as you can not introduce the exact location in your GPS, it took a little old style navigation and a couple of phone calls to find the location.

Outstanding service by all staff we encountered. The room was quiet, comfortable and met our needs. Breakfast was freshly prepared and delicious. Easy access to train station and trip into Edinburgh centre took 15mins and cost £3 return.

Train station 50 metres from the hotel direct to city centre 4 times an hour.
Return trains are from Haymarket and Waverly 3-4 per hour.
6-10 minutes each way and £3 pound return
Parking was good plenty spaces.

Ate in the resturant and the food was very good.

This restaurant is not a place I would want to eat in again. The service is slow, impersonal and un caring. The food was bland and unappetising especial the “Smoky Maple BBQ Pork Ribs” which were dry with little evidence of the BBQ glace. I choice to upgrade to the “Triple-Cooked Spicy Chips” but standard chips arrived so when I mentioned it they sprinkled some Cajun style powder over them.

The bill arrived and was wrong with someone else’s drink on it but I had to wait for the manager to come as the staff were not able to correct it. This took ages, I had to ask again what was happening until she arrived corrected it and left without even the courtesy to apologise.

I recommend finding somewhere else if staying at the adjoining Premier Inn. Their strap line is “Created with flair served with care” can’t agree less.

Room Tip: Windows don't open facing the train line and air con is infective.

Clean, accommodates children and teens for family up to five, gracious and very helpful staff, located right next to train station for easy access into Edinburgh. Breakfast reasonably priced and also a good value for families.
