We stayed at this hotel on March 9th - a few days after opening. The hotel is very difficult to find. Just double glass doors with the Premier Inn logo on it set between 2 shops. On entering the small lobby, there are 2 lifts taking you up to the 2nd floor reception/restaurant area. The staff are young and very helpful. The following issues might just be teething problems - but I ordered a 'twin' room and found only a double bed made up. I didnt realise that the other bed was the chaise longue. A quick phone call to reception quickly had it made up into a bed. There were tea and coffee making facilities on arrival but the following day - the cups had been removed and not replaced. The toilet paper dispenser was empty and the soap dispenser was also almost empty. All of these problems were rectified within 5 minutes. I liked this hotel and the location but I did miss a 'proper' reception area with the usual tourist information leaflets etc which was missing. Overall - a pleasant hotel which I would recommend to anyone.

If you've been in a premier inn then you know what to expect in terms of comfortable bed and pillows and standard fayre for breakfast. As a new outlet, this one offers that and more. It's bound to be Premier Inn(PI)'s most popular outlet (for those not demanding on side parking) in no time.

Rooms onto Princes Street have a spectacular view of the Castle and across Princes Street Gardens towards Lothian Road. We were lucky enough to be allocated Room 615 (top floor). I'd guess the sixth floor rooms on the south side offer the best prospect. The location is great for the National Gallery, all the attractions of the New Town and Waverley Station. Although we didn't travel by car, the hotel is also a short walk from the Kings Stable Yard Car Park.

The hotel entrance is on Princes Street but access to reception, on the second floor (which also has the bar and restaurant), is by lift/stairs. On the second floor there is a manned reception (a pedestal rather than the usual desk) and an automatic check inn (a new procedure to me for a PI). Easy as pie to check in automatically but there are friendly staff on hand if tachnology fazes you. Separate lifts take you up to bedrooms above the second floor.

Rooms are the usual offer. Good quality white sheets and towels. Purple marl carpets and trim prevail with blond wood (desk, desk chair armchair and unit with shelves, drawer); standard bath/shower/sink/toilet/TV - comforting I'm sure for PI regulars. We found the room quiet at night with little noise from the Street outside. So in terms but as good as you'd find in 5* hotels further in the vicinity.

Staff are well trained, friendly and eager to please, offer advice and help. Breakfast is usual PI offer. Again the view across to the Castle makes it more of an occasion.

An Edinburgh hotel I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Room Tip: Fifth or sixth floors with south facing aspect give best views across to the Castle

I stayed at the hotel on its first night of opening so very pristine and new and helpful staff - its easy to miss a small door between two shops right on the main shopping street and overlooking the castle - but once inside it's a typical premier inn - not a bad thing you know exactly what to expect at a good price family rooms big beds great pillows attentive staff, standard all you can eat breakfast and costa coffee. Ask for one of the higher floors with I think even number room as this should give you a great view of the castle - i was on the top floor but had an odd number so overlooked offices - its a bit windy of a night so you may get some noise associated with that but relative low city noise. Oh and only five minutes walk from Waverley station
