“Great location”
Reviewed 16 April 2012

A typical new style premier with all the usual decor, etc. Great city centre location, couldn't be better for exploring Edinburgh. We spent a great weekend her and you can easilt walk to most of the sights within 25mins. Better breakfast than the avergae premier inn with the hot food much fresher and being replaced/added to more often. Only drawback was how busy it was at breakfast. We were a party of 6 and struggled to get seats together however staff were very helpful. Some problems with computer at checkin but again helpfull staff and very apologetic that it took time to resolve. Overall a great hotel for a base for exploring Edinburgh with a great selection of tourist atttractions, restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance. Also gor cheap parking at £10 per day available at Castle Terrace car park (a big bonus in Edinburgh)

Fantastic location, opposite Princes Street gardens and lovely views of the castle. Hotel lovely and new, very clean, staff polite and generally friendly. On arrival receptionist was booking someone in so we chose the automated option of check-in which was quick and hassle free. Issues we encountered were despite having made a dinner reservation we were asked to wait in the bar area for 15 minutes even though tables were free. Staff in the restaurant were disorganised and mixing up food orders. Hot food once prepared was left on the server for a considerable time waiting to be delivered to tables despite both Andrew the manager and other staff walking past it several times. Breakfast was just as chaotic but despite all this the food was great and presented very nicely. Andrew very inexperienced with dealing with complaints. We spoke to him about the scrapping chairs and he was dismissive of our comments. Despite issues with the restaurant staff and organisation of it we would definitely recommend anyone to stay at this hotel but suggest you eat out if you are in a hurry and do not stay on the 3rd floor if you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep!

Room Tip: Do not stay on 3rd floor overlooking the castle as it is above the restaurant and bar and scrapping...

Clean and comfortable, service a little hit and miss at times but generally good. Great location at the end of Princes St.

Room Tip: Rooms at front have lovely castle view but are generally a little smaller and noisier.

Premier Inn tends to be a good budget brand, but a recent stay at this Edinburgh Premier Inn (Princes Street) really was disappointing because of a catalogue of small errors that added up to being more than the sum of their parts.

We were greeted with a particularly impersonal check-in, where you are led through an automated cash-point style check-in procedure by assisting staff. The staff were well trained but appeared to be following a script, much the same way in which scripts are followed when phoning call centres. This only added to the utterly impersonal reception and was a bad start to the stay.

Our room had only one towel in it. If two people are sharing I would expect two towels. We tried to phone housekeeping to get a second towel. Unfortunately the phone didn't seem to work properly -nor was there a phone directory in our room. The climate control was also jammed in our room. All small things, but it's the detail that really counts in such a competitive market and these lacking details and impersonal nature of the service has put me off Premier Inn. I will now look for alternatives before staying in a Premier Inn again, which is a shame because I had been reasonably impressed by the brand until now...

Room Tip: You can't choose a room because they are pre-allocated by computer (at least this is what we wer...

Lovely brand new Premier Inn, fantastic
for all Edinburgh has to offer. Located on floors 2-6 opposite the castle. Great value and really cannot fault it. Breakfast brilliant, though very busy as we were leaving, and lovely cheery reception staff who were very professional. Nice bar area with views. Would recommend for city break.

We arrived at the hotel at 8.30am and asked the lady on reception if we could leave our luggage there until we could check in. She was fine with this and she made us feel very welcome. When we returned later in the day, check in was quick and again the reception staff were friendly. Our room/bathroom was very clean. Our view from the room looked on to a small courtyard. Food in the restaurant was good and the all you can eat breakfast is great value for money. The great thing about this hotel is the location. Its right in the city centre. The hotel is opposite the castle (the view of the castle from the hotel is amazing) and shops/pubs/restaurants are on the doorstep. Princes Park is across the road. Overall we had a fantastic break in Edinburgh and would definitely stay at this Premier Inn again.

Brand new hotel so its mostly fresh and clean. On arrival we waited 10minutes before being spoken to. Got to the bedroom and first impressions were great. Went for dinner in the bar downstairs but had a bit of a wait and a mixed up food order, staff were friendly but chatting to each other more than their guests. Upon bed time we found make up stains on our bed sheets, these for sure had not been changed from the previous night!
