“Great location, great view and great price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014 via mobile

I had originally wanted to book my husband and I into a B&B or hostel in Edinburgh but honestly I couldn't find what we wanted within our budget and in a good location. I started looking at hotels and this one popped up - and let me tell you, what a find!
We were lucky enough to get a room with a view of the castle - fantastic! The hotel is basic but has everything you need. You only get 30min free wifi per day - but go to a coffee shop nearby and you'll get free unlimited access :). We didn't opt for the breakfast option, instead choosing to go to the local coffee shops. Finding the front door can be tricky at first, it's wedged between 2 stores and then you take an elevator immediately up to reception.
You are a 20 minute walk up to the Royal Mile, or you can hop on a bus that's just on the next block. It's really quiet and safe walking around the area at night. We went out for meals in New Town on 2 nights and walked the whole way, the streets were really quiet and we felt really safe. Great bars on Rose Street behind the hotel with live music, drinks and great atmosphere.

Very good value. Superb location. Very nice, quiet, comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Breakfast offers continental or full English, both being Buffet Service. Good value for money.
Overall avert pleasant stay.

Based on our previous good experience with Premier Inns in the UK we booked this for our sightseeing stay in Edinburgh and around and enjoyed our choice very much. The hotel facing the majestic Edinburgh Castle is within a few minutes walk from access to all major Edinburgh highlights, the Castle itself, Royal Mile and the Palace of the Holyrood House. There is a very good airport shuttle service Airlink stop just about 10 mins from the hotel and in the Princes street and around a broad variety of shopping opportunities. The hotel restaurant and some rooms have the Castle view, which you can enjoy in the related section of the restaurant during the usual very good full breakfast (optional) or for a dinner. Taking advantage of taking the dinner there for our first evening we felt though, that the menu offer was narrower than in our previous Premier Inn stays. This regards also the draught beer as just one brand was offered. We can recommend instead the bar/restaurant Element in a very close Rose St. for nice choice of varied meals both local and international, as well as a decent choice of draught beers and other drinks.

Room Tip: We had a quiet room facing the other side, not the castle. I expect all rooms to be fine, maybe a ca...

We are fans of Premier Inn and again they have not disappointed us. We have just returned from a long weekend in Edinburgh. What a fantastic place to stay . Right in the centre close to all the sights. Everyone working there made us feel welcome . They were helpful, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A credit to Premier Inn.

Excellent location and our room had a fantastic view of the castle. Everything beautifully clean and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Rooms very spacious and well equipped. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view!
