The hotel suited us very well for a one night stopover when travelling by train from Inverness then on to London. It is certainly walkable from the station if you are young and fit and don't have 2 heavy suitcases - so we got a taxi! Unlike London cabbies, the taxi driver lifted our cases into the taxi and, on arrival, crossed Princes street with them to deliver them to the door of our hotel. We had a very pleasant room on the sixth floor looking directly across to Edinburgh Castle. The only sour note was breakfast the following morning. I usually find somewhere else to go for breakfast when staying in a Premier Inn but on this occasion it was a Sunday and we had an early train to catch so we decided to give their breakfast another try. Although the breakfast room is clean and light and the breakfast perfectly adequate, it was stone cold because it had all been cooked in advance and not kept properly hot. Having spent a fortnight travelling around Scotland and staying in some wonderful hotels serving cooked breakfasts to order, this was a sad let-down.
Good location, Great staff, wonderful comfy beds and as much breakfast as you can eat. Only drawback is car park is about ten minutes’ walk away. Not a big issue but a pain if you have suitcases to carry. They do however give you a discount on the parking cost.
We had occasion to stay in a hotel at twice the price while touring Scotland. Premiere inn were half the price and beat them hands down on all the important requirements.
If you want a good night’s clean comfortable sleep without the fuss go there
Dear Tabletopmountain,
Thank you for your lovely review, I am delighted that you had a brilliant stay with us!
The parking isn't ideal, however we always strive to make the short walk worth it when you arrive at the hotel and I am really pleased that this seems to have been the case for your visit.
Our aim is to make our guests feel at home, to provide great value, a clean comfortable room and a team on hand who genuinely care that you have a great stay. It really makes our day when guests take the time to share such positive feedback and I thank you for the time you have taken to do so. I hope that we can welcome you back in the future.
Kind regards

Lovely hotel, excellent location perfect for family trips. Pricier than usual as it turned out to be the tattoo and the fringe festival. However, a fantastic visit had by all. Being able to drop off luggage meant that we could enjoy as much time as possible in Edinburgh.
We stayed 5 nights here. Basic, clean, comfortable and quiet. Friendly helpful staff. Delicious, all you can eat breakfast with lots of choice ( added cost). Lovely view of the castle from the breakfast room. Limited Wifi. A 15 minute walk ( some up-hill) to Edinburgh Castle. Places to eat nearby on Rose St. ( one street over and parallel to Princes St.) We went to Kenilworth Pub twice. About a 10 minute walk from Waverley Train Station, down Princes Street - cross street is Castle St - the Inn is not that easy to see - it is just a doorway with a Starbucks and and New Look Store on either side.
My wife and I travelled to Scotland recently for the Commonwealth Games. We decided to use Edinburgh as our base. We usually stay at high end hotels but did not want to spend too much money on this occasion and opted for this Premier Inn Hotel. The hotel has a good location on Princes Street and is just 5-10 minutes walk from Waverley Station.
We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable this hotel is. Our stay was made much more pleasurable by the warm welcome that we received and the friendliness of all the staff that we had interactions with.
I would definitely consider staying in a Premier Inn Hotel again.
