Visited here a while back. Very nice. Ornate & cosy. Just a nice size. Love the chandeliers. A touch of class. Good location.

“Boxing Day treat”
Reviewed 27 December 2013 via mobile

Went on Boxing Day to see a Christmas carol, the tickets being a surprise present from our children. Never been to the theatre before, but it was really lovely and charming. The show was excellent and really well done, with clever use of sets and cast to tell the take of Scrooge. Though a small cast, with no supporting band (several did play instruments) they told the story well, confidently and with gusto and skill.

The theatre is lovely. It's in lovely condition and we'll definitely go again. Ticket prices were good and the programme price was sub £4. Seats were comfy (stalls) and there was more leg room than in most other theatres I have visited.

There is plenty of nearby parking, though as in any city, the NCP is pretty expensive, but it's a better bet than dicing with the yellow lines or permit holders spaces.

The bar prices were par for the course and there was the usual interval ice creams.

Thoroughly recommended - both the performance and the theatre.

“A Christmas Carol”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

Went to see this with friends at the weekend, lovely theatre with a great atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and helfpul. Prices on a par with other theatres in Edinburgh. Toilets were imaculate. The production itself was just wonderful. Sets and cast were great and well carried out. Only a small cast but this didn't detract from a first class performance.

“The Carol for Christmas.”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

The book sold thousands of copies in its first day & this production should be a sell out. The sets & costumes are simple but the story is carried by the enthusiasm & experience of the small cast. Some were better singers than others, but -who cares ! It was the joy in the tale that came across, as it was intended. Maybe there are " Better " versions of this show around but I will not be seeking any.

“Great night out”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

A Christmas Carol.
Great performance, lovely theatre. The bar's a bit of a soul-less wee space, and drinks and snacks prices are scary, but we weren't there for a night in the pub. As usual the Lyceum put on a tremendous show, and two little girls loved it. Four tickets (family) for £66 - great value I think.
