We stayed here from 5/8/14 to 5/9/14. I had booked a Holiday Inn but got a last minute notice about the cheap rates at this hotel.

Pros. Is it across from Waverly Train station so you don't need a cab to get here. It is in the center of everything. I saved about $600 by staying here vs. a Holiday Inn. We had a view of the Balmoral Hotel Clock from our window. It was relatively quiet at night. The room was clean. The staff is friendly and nice.

Cons. You get here via an alley which is a bit spooky at night. This is a very basic hotel. You get two big towels which smell of vinegar. There is no closet. The TV has 5 channels. There is a desk and a plastic chair. If you are looking for a little luxury, this is not it.

We thought about changing once we saw how Spartan it was, but decided that since we were only in the room at night, it was ok for the money.

No place to spread out or put your luggage. No hotel services. No food service other than a box breakfast for extra money.

The hotel is located at quite a good location, less than 10min walk from Waverly train station. The actual entrance of the hotel is in a small back lane. However, it is not difficult to find nor is it dangerous at night.
The room is clean and the bed is, as advertised by Travelodge, comfortable.

Me and a friend stayed here for a Christmas night out the location was great not far from pubs and clubs at all. staff were friendly and very helpful and the rooms were massive!
No complaints here would defiantly stay here if I was in Edinburgh again

We chose this particular Travelodge, as it is situated across from Waverley Bridge, from where the Airlink 100 Bus departs at least every 10 minutes from 04:00, to Edinburgh Airport.
Access to the hotel is from Meuse Lane, off South St Andrews Street and just behind Princes Street. This lane is a rather dingy approach to the hotel entrance and is lined with large waste bins, belonging to the adjacent buildings. To some people this might be rather off-putting, especially during the hours of darkness.
The hotel however is furnished to Travelodge standards, is absolutely clean and adequate for its purpose. We had a pleasant room with en suite facilities and a shower but were frequently disturbed during the night, with the dumpsters being filled and rolled about, however we had been warned about the possibilitiy of noise, when we checked in at reception. Other than that, we would not object to staying here again in the future, should we decide totravel on an early morning flight, or train. Staff were especially helpful and informative.

Room Tip: Book early and request aroom overlooking Princes Street.

After coming from our in London which had a tiny room and even tinier bathroom, we were pleasantly surprise at the size of the room (very spacious). We arrived at almost midnight by train and booked this hotel because of its proximity to the station. The directions provided in their website was spot on and we arrived with less than 10 minutes of walking (walk up the bridge, turn right, cross the street and you should see an H&M store, turn left at the first corner. It is in an alley with trash bins and the entrance was small, but the hotel was clean and the environment, safe. Right across the alley is KFC and Mcdonalds. A vendo machine is also located at the lobby for drinks and candy bars. Costs about 5 pounds for a Taxi to Edinburgh Castle as we didn't want to walk uphill. Extremely good value as the price of 2 nights is even less than our one night stay in London.
