The reception staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The entrance to the hotel is the only bad thing about the hotel as it seems to be down a side street.
There is building work going on so in future it might be better.

The service was good. Clean room. Great location in the city.
The entrance was not so good in an ally. But we have a great view for the room so we saw the Castle and the city. The shopping was perfectly outside and so was also the restaurant.

Context was looking for a simple, clean well located hotel & this Travelodge is perfect. The outside (a back alley with bins) is unfortunate but shouldn't put guests off. The reception team are friendly and helpful, its a modernised old building so rooms are of decent size, is very clean and the location is perfect for exploring the city. Main negative in the rooms being fairly small single beds. Would use this hotel again.

This hotel is very close to Waverley station. The entrance is slightly off putting but the excellent customer service and friendly staff make up for this. The room was spotless and very comfortable with tea making facilities and good shower pressure. Ideal location for visiting edinburgh

As other reviews have said the entrance really is a let down but staff are welcoming and room is clean and comfortable.

We stayed overnight over a couple of hot, July days which probably made the skip situation worse as they were smelling a bit and on the day of departure had overflowed on to the street. But it is easy enough to find as there is a very large sign and the staff are friendly when you do make it to reception.

The room was cheap and clean but I was disappointed that it wasn't one with a bath, and that it had no view at all despite having windows on two different walls. In fact, one window faced a wall with a fire escape and view in to a working offices window, and the other looked straight at a wall which was close enough to touch!

The room was right next to the entrance alleyway and at around 1.30am there was a lorry doing maintenance work on the road through, and not enough sound proofing to block this out.

Having stayed in some very dated travelodges before I was pleased with the new look hotel, it was fresh, clean and bed was comfortable, so overall you get what you pay for. It is only 10 minutes walk from the bus station and train station so, if like us you use public transport, you will find it very convenient. Reception allow storage of luggage if you arrive early or have activities planned on departure day so it's all very easy.

If you don't want to be looking on to a wall however, especially one that is over a smelly and noisy alleyway, I would suggest bringing this up at reception on arrival!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the front of the hotel so you don't get stuck over the alleyway with no view...

If you get a Princes Street view (which we did, up on level 5) then your view is great - you can see the whole of Edinburgh! Just opposite the Stewart monument (on a backroad).
Right in the centre of town, so easy to pop back to get a jacket or some sun cream!
Rooms have just been refurbished, so were light, airy, comfy & big (tv could have been bigger, being how far away from the bed it is!)
The staff were really nice (even got the JK Rowling story off of one of them before we left!). You could leave your bags there after check out which was fab, when you have an 8pm flight and sights to see during the day.

Room Tip: Although a room on Prices Street could be noisy - we didnt think so up on the 5th floor.
