“Ideal for the Festivals”

Edinburgh is expensive in Festive season and good places book really quickly.

This is good quality uni accommodaton close to the city centre and loads of cabs always available. Breakfast is on a massive scale but the food is freshly cooked and of good quality.
Room clean and tidy, I'd stay here again

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from big student groups

Pollock Halls are located in Newington, about a mile out of the city centre. The scenery is fantastic with Salisbury Crags looming behind them. However, unless you plan to spend money on cabs, or fancy puzzling out the local bus routes, you had better be a good walker.

My room was clean and had sink, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk, and tea and coffee facilities. The bed was comfortable enough but not luxurious. I believe there are some ensuites available, but otherwise you are in a corridor of 9 rooms with 2 shared WC / shower rooms. You have access to the whole building so you could always head for another corridor if 'your' washrooms are occupied.

There is the potential for some noise around campus in the evenings but, against that, most central hotels are on busy streets and Edinburgh is a lively 24 hour city, so there is potential for noise almost anywhere. I had no problem sleeping and I always have the window open. The campus has some facilities including a shop and a generous self-service breakfast is included in the already cheap price.

If you're solo, or with friends but would prefer to have individual rooms, this is a fantastic bargain, better than most budget hotels and cheaper.

WE STAYED AT HERE FOR TWO NIGHTS WHISLT VISITING THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL.Whilst our room was basic , clean and comfortable we were kept awake all night by students/performers who were staying for a much longer period. Disturbances began from arounf 11.30pm till up to 4am with doors banging , loud chatting in corridor and laughter.. I have teenagers of my own and feel that i am tolerant but this was totally unacceptable. A decent nights sleep is a reasonable request! Attempts were made to curb the noise but to no avail. I suggest that groups who are staying whilst performing at the festival share different accomodation to those who are visiting the festival

Clean room, good bed, nice people, good service. Nature just around the corner.
Breakfast in the restaurant with a view hundred other people was like being a student again, busy but like a trip on memory lane, pretty nice. You can have a full scottisch breakfast, or just a cup coffee, a croissant and some fruit. An excellent way to start the day.
They even serve lunch and dinner, didn't try that but should be ok.
If you miss a bus at night you can walk back, it's a little walk, approximately 20 minutes.

Staying here was good value. The room appeared simple, clean and well-kept. I went for a room with en-suite bathroom which was supplied with plenty of towels. Water boiler, fair trade tea and coffee was available in the room. Pantry down the hall with a fridge for free use by nearby rooms, which can be useful. A range of breakfast options served from 07.30-10.00. The place is located in a quiet area a short walk from the city centre and right next to Holyrood Park, making it ideal for walks.
