“Great family hotel”
Reviewed 2 April 2010

Used this as our base for our kid`s first "city break".and don`t think we could have chosen better .We arrived at 09.40 expecting only to leave our luggage but our room was quickly swopped with another to allow us immediate access. A very roomy well appointed room wth bath and shower and separate toilet, that easily accomodated the 4 of us( never once did it feel cramped). Every member of staff we encountered was pleasant.courteous and helpful, A pool in such a reasonably priced city centre hotel was a real bonus ,we had this to ourselves when we visited but it is minute and I can`t imagine too many there at once.
In conclusion this hotel wouldn`t be my choice for a luxurious romantic break but for a family base in the city centre it is hard to beat

We enjoyed our short stay here (2 nights).

The staff were friendly and helpful when we checked in. The room was clean, modern and comfortable.

The best part about this hotel was the location. A short walk from the centre of Edinburgh and all of the popular tourist attractions. There are also many nice restaurants and pubs nearby. It is about 10 minutes walk to Edinburgh Waverley train station.

Would recommend.

A well appointed room with a bath and shower which is unusual. If you were there as a couple te seperate toilet is a real bonus. I found the mattress a little soft but not too bad. Had room service dinner and breakfast - both were of good quality and prompt. The price wsa very modest particularly for Edinburgh

Stayed in the hotel for a weekend break in the run up to Xmas. Got a good rate online and had a decent size room. Location was great, about 5 mins walk to Grassmarket.
Didnt spend much time in the hotel but if I was going back would stay there again.

There is no place to park to check-in! Had to walk several blocks to a parking area and walk back to the hotel, at night, in the rain. Front desk staff was really unhappy and uncooperative during the check-in (even rude). The rooms were nice, though - clean and well appointed. Overall, not an experience I wish to duplicate.

we stayed here over valentines weekend, booked as part of a package and i was really impressed overall with the hotel. Its location is within walking distrance of grassmarket, castle and the royal mile. we walked twenty mins or so to princess street and beyond too. all very nice walks
The hotel itself is modern, very clean and bright and i couldnt really fault it at all
Staff were incredibly helpful from check in to departure.
Room was a great size with seperate toilet, shower and bath. all very modern and well laid out
Breakfast buffet style was busy but really good, fresh supplies reguarly brought in
Room was cleaned daily and we were even left cute ittle cupcakes in our room by the maidservice, which i thought was a nice touch over the romantic break weekend.
Bar staff were good and served a good range of cocktails (pricey, but we tried a few and they were all nice!)
Inviting pool, sauna, steam room and spa also downstairs was great added bonus.
All in all, a great city for a weekend break and a fabulous hotel, would definatley return here again and reccommend to all.

Good room, clean & spacious but the food was terrible. I had pre-paid for breakfast which was revolting - sickly scrambled eggs that tasted like cardboard and cold bacon that also tasted like cardboard. Much of the evening room service menu wasn't available and what was available was not very good. Following my stay the hotel emailed me for feedback and I raised the food issue but had absolutely no response. The dreadful food was my lasting impression which is a shame because the hotel and rooms are pretty good.
