We stayed at the hostel on our recent trip to Edinburgh and were greeted there by the lovely staff at the reception desk. We found them to be very helpful.
We booked into a dorm room which we found to be spacious and clean. Each person is provided with their own locker and each bed has it's own individual curtain, light and shelf which make things very comfy and private for you.
We found the view from the hostel to be amazing. It's located right on the Firth of Forth and we just loved the surrounding scenery.
It is located out of town but the shuttle service they provide makes it very easy to get into town and back.
If ever in Edinburgh again I would look to stay here.

Situated shore front by Firth of Forth, it's worth the distance from Edinburgh city centre. Spacious dorm room with security locker provided as well as headlight and privacy curtains. Bit of inconvenience of shuttle service only runs until 2300 from Waterloo Place; and no power sockets in room make camera or mobile charging a bit challenging. Had to get it done in TV room and Internet cafe. In general, I would definitely go back if I visit Edinburgh again. Staffs are friendly and helpful, it's worth the money and being offered different sceneries of Edinburgh.

We chose to stay at Globetrotter Inn Edinburgh because of a previous positive experience in London...quite a disappointment! Although of fair value, the hostel almost has an atmosphere of a prison. We stayed there for 3 nights and some of the girls felt so uncomfortable that they slept with their lights on. The place is huge, a bit run-down, but well organized. Breakfast is included but boring (cold cereals, toast with butter and jam) and the dining room lacks warmth. We found the location too far from downtown Edinburgh (20mn drive) but the hostel does run a shuttle every hour. Pluses: good internet room and beautiful view on the water from some of the rooms.

I have to travel to Edinburgh every few weeks with work, and I keep on coming back here. I have tried out quite a few of the myriad of hostels in Edinburgh and this is by far the most pleasant to stay in so far.

You are provided with clean sheets on arrival, the shared dorms are reasonable in size and the bunks are built so that you can almost create your own little room within them. Solidly constructed and "fitted" to the room with wooden frames they do not creak, and all are fitted with curtains around them which you can draw to provide you with a private space to read, change, and sleep. Materesses are fine, bedside lights are provided. There are lockers in the room to keep your stuff in.

Breakfast is included in the price, and although this is basic, it is sufficient. There are large well equipped kitchens, and the hostel staff do all of your washing up, which not only makes things easy, but also ensures clean kit! The only thing to remember is to buy your supplies before coming to the hostel, there are no shops or amenities around, and although the hostel has a small shop of its own, this is stocked primarily with frozen ready meals.

Bathrooms are clean, and showers hot and powerful.

As with all shared budget accomodation, the peacefulness of your stay depends very much on the other guests, but having stayed here around 10 times, only once was there a noisy school party also booked. For around £10 a night you can't expect everything!

The hostel has two main drawbacks. Firstly, its location is a fair way out of town (20 minuite drive). The hostel runs a regular shuttle bus to and from the town centre every hour (until 11pm), which is fine, but not as convenient as some of the town centre hostels. Secondly, the hostel has a strange no cash policy, whereby you fill up a card with money and then spend it in the bar and shop at the hostel - this is a bit of hastle, but not a problem if you have everything you need before you arrive.

If you want cheap, clean and pleasant budget accomodation, I would recomend this place. Having stayed at some really grim town centre hostels I think that its location is far outweighed by its cleanliness and the realitive privacy of the accomodation.

I stayed in a 4 person room with private bathroom which was very clean, spacious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hostel as it is great value for money. Although it's not in a central location it doesn't matter much because the shuttle bus runs constantly throughout the day.

Great hostel, pretty cheap per night, good beds that each have their own little space with a curtain etc in the dorms so can be quite private even in a shared dorm and you have your own lock-up in the room.

Down to the location, well the surroundings are great! Right by the sea, a lot of grass and trees around etc, things to walk to (near by Cramond and along the water front) however when you try to find the city, its no where to be seen! About 15-20 shuttle bus ride away from the city or longer on the public buses, suddenly becomes the massive downfall to this place. They cater for this distance by having their own pub, mini shop and movie room but the can get away with charging ridiculous prices for internet and I would have thought they would offer free shuttle rides into town!

Anyways, if you want a nice clean, peaceful, cheap place to stay its great, their dorms are cozy and even their double rooms are quite nice for a hostel the only thing is its ages away from town :)

We stayed here as a couple in the double rooms and in the dorms over the period of about 2 weeks.
