My husband and I have just returned from a lovely weekend stay at the Joppa Turrets. We normally stay at the local Best Western Hotel but this was fully booked and we are so glad it was as we have found this little gem of a place. The location is just perfect on the promonade at Portobello beach with unrestricted views from every guest bedroom. It is so releaxing to hear the water lappng the sand that you will have a great sleep. Complemented by a quality mattress and bedding its almost guaranteed. Our room although not large felt spacious bright and very welcoming with complimentary tea coffee etc. The en suite is immaculate and the toiletries are a nice touch.

What makes this place extra special is the warm welcome you receive from Phil and Anne who clearly love their beautiful home and go out of their way to make you feel at home. It has such a relaxed and bohemian atmosphere that you cant help but chill, something you do not feel at the Hotel end of market. The icing on the cake must be the most fab breakfast and I can assure you there will be no room for cake! They present a good range of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts and porridge. You can choose light options smoked salmon and scrabbled egg, poached etc or the belly busting full cooked. The quality of the breakfast is lovely served with haggis which was great if you like it.

This is a great location for visiting Edinburgh as an amazing bus service gets you into town within 15 min and the bus stop is just round the corner and the service is every ten minutes or so.. If you want to stay put there is a great wee pub round the corner called the Ormelie Bar that has a good atmosphere and must be one of the cheapest I have found for a glass of wine in Scotland !

Room Tip: All rooms have great view.

Had a very nice stay here. It was so loveley und hab such a beautyfull view over the sea. The owner were very kind and breakfest was very tasty und typical for scottland means "very good". You had a bus Station near by so you can reach the Edinburgh City in almost 13 min.

We spent just under a week for our Honeymoon and it was such a relaxing well needed break.
Anne was an excellent host and the breakfast she cooked us every morning set us up for the day. Amazing breakfast.
Any info we needed on daily trips Anne gave us helpful tips and advise.
After a manic beginning of 2013 organising our wedding, the 6 days at Joppa Turrets was well needed.

We recently spent five days at Joppa turrets for the second time. As before, we found the guesthouse beautifully comfortable, quiet, a literal stone's throw from the beach (where my wife jogged each morning). All the rooms are beautifully appointed, warm and cosy in the roughest weather (we go in November). There is an excellent bus service from almost anywhere in the city centre running through the night just 15-20 mins away.
The excellent breakfasts set you up for a day's tourism, and we often returned for an afternoon nap before setting off again.
We look forward to these stays not only to visit our son in Edinburgh, but as real battery-recharge from our working lives in Paris.
A real find: we hesitated before writing this review as we don't want to find it fully booked next year!

Room Tip: There are no tips! All the rooms are to the same high standard of comfort with sea views.

This is a fabulous b&b in a lovely location right next to the beach with wonderful views of the Firth of Forth. My room was excelIent, with lovely views over the sea, everything was beautifully clean & I had a kettle in the room with coffee, tea etc and biscuits which was a very nice touch.
I was made to feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent & was all freshly cooked to your order. There was even the opportunity to try Haggis, which I did & it was delicious. I thought the price of the room was excellent value. The bus service into the centre of Edinburgh was very good; a 30 minute trip & buses run every 10 minutes.
I can highly recommend Joppa Turrets & I would definitely stay here again when I next come back to Edinburgh.
