“Once again a superb stay with Trina and Colin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2011

This was a return trip to Edinburgh and the Priestville was our chosen guest house because of previous visits.Colin and Trina again excelled in the hospitality arena and the homely touches and expert knowledge of the city and surrounding area is a godsend when away from home.
The comforfortable room and superb breakfast ticked all the boxes. The City guide showing eateries, laundrette, bus routes etc was a much appreciated.

Stayed here for 2 nights on our trip from Australia to explore Edinburgh and go to the Tattoo. The guesthouse was lovely and perfectly located. A bus stops almost out front of the guesthouse, and several buses take you to the town centre. We also walked in one day the walk is lovely. Past Arthur's seat and Hollyrood Palace (which was gorgeous). Then into town. Probably 20 minutes if we hadn't stopped at the palace.

The hosts Colin and Trina were really genuinely lovely and made the stay wonderful. Breakfast was delicious, and Colin went out of his way, making us Haggis to try, and making us an early breakfast when we had to leave early on our last day. Such nice people. We would absolutely stay here again.

Thanks Priestville.

I am afraid to say that we found our stay at the Priestville Guest House a little disappointing. Immediately as we walked in there was an aroma of stale food and the hallway looked tired (as did the rest of the place). We were shown to our room and - the shared bathroom! I must have misread the room facilities as I thought all rooms were fitted with en suite, but I was wrong!. Our room had bright orange woodchip on the wall and the floor boards creaked especially in the middle of the night when we had to go along the landing to use the toilet that never flushed the toilet roll away. The hosts were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was lovely. The location of the guest house is slightly out of the centre, but plenty of buses and taxis available or a twenty minute walk. I will not be returning to this accomodation and my motto on this occasion is 'you get what you pay for'!

After a short bus ride from Waverly Station (1.30 single, but cheap day rover tix available), I was warmly greeted by Colin and his wife when I arrived and shown to my room. It was large, clean, and comfortable with a nice view to the east. My hosts provided a map of the area with a list and locations (most an easily walkable distance) of recommended eateries. I wound up at the Salisbury Arms, where I had a nice meal and local beer. In the morning, the breakfast was excellent (my choice: smoked salmon and scrambled eggs). Although I only stayed 1 night, I would definitely stay again on a return visit to Edinburgh.

The owners were friendly and helpful. It was like getting temporary relatives.

Room was old but well maintained. New TV and beds.

Breakfasts were great and with huge portion.

A few minute walk to bus station. There were frequent buses to downtown.

We had a really relaxed time here and agree with everything that has gone before in the reviews.Colin welcomed us warmly and gave us excellent information, especially where to eat.- Saliburys Arms. We used the wonderful bus service [£1.30 single to city centre - amazing value!] and left our car behind .Our room was No.3 , large, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was yummy, especailly salmon and scrambled eggs. Colin offered to dry our very wet shoes and they were left outside our door the next morning, completely dry. There are many interesting books on everthing to do with Scotland and we enjoyed dipping into them from building the Forth Bridge to Scotlands Stonewear. We hope to return.

We can only say "thank you" from the depth of our hearts to our wonderful hosts. We arrived at 2.15a.m. due to diversion from the ash cloud and sick from food poisoning enroute. Mr Warwick was just so kind and we felt so warmly welcomed and cared for.
Nothing was any trouble in caring for us and we stayed a total of 5 nights in all.
The room was really lovely and so comfortable and breakfast was just what we needed to start each day exploring the wonderful city of Edinburgh. Again with helpful advice from our host. WE WILL BE BACK. Thank you Colin and Trina. blessings from the Rennies - Canada.

Room Tip: rick steves book on the U.K. is a must as a guide.
