Just returned from spending a birthday treat at this fantastic place.Cannot praise this accommodation and staff enough...nothing is too much for Rory and his team of brilliant ,friendly, happy, helpful staff. We stayed in the Penthouse appt and YES, there are an abundance of stairs to climb, but it is worth every step when you reach the top!
Everything at The Chester is first classand 5 star.....beautiful rooms, one of the best places we have ever stayed in...perfect little touches like complimentary drinks each evening when you return from a meal out to canapes and drinks before you go out on a saturday night......welcome goody box for my partners birthday..champagne and cocktails brought to your room...what more can you ask for? A huge thank you to all of you for making our first trip to Edinburgh so enjoyable.....Will sing your praises far and wide when friends want to visit Edinburgh....

Wow, right from the start - great staff who couldn't do enough for you, huge luxurious apartments kitted out with the most stylish of mod-cons. So much room to have friends round for dinner if you fancied and at such reasonable prices compared to hotels in town - to be honest it can be much cheaper too. I would not stay anywhere else now in Edinburgh. Location great as only a short walk into town and you have the ease of coming and going as you please. Felt like home and we will certainly be back to visit soon!

VERY highly recommended indeed!

My colleague and I stayed here whilst attending a business course, the location is fantastic, the apartment we stayed in was just sublime. The finishings are first class and you really feel at home, this beats a hotel room hands down. The staff are so attentive and really look after you. I have never stayed in such a peaceful setting and I travel a lot !! I really cannot recommend The Chester Residence enough I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Chester Residence for 5 nights with our 1 year old son to celebrate his birthday. The apartment was very child friendly with lots of space for him to crawl around. The staff were really excellent. They went out of their way to make our stay special and even bought a birthday cake for our son! I would highly recommend the Chester Residence if you are looking for a bit of luxury but need somewhere child friendly too.

The building is gorgeous in a quiet area but not too far from everything. Our apartment, whilst being on the top floor with no lift, was gorgeous, spacious and spotless. The staff and management were so welcoming, friendly but yet professional. As we were getting married in Edinburgh we were made to feel very special and that nothing was too much trouble. We hope to stay again.

I had never stayed in a residence as opposed to an hotel before but after the experience of The Chester Residence then I would want nothing else IF they could match this. This is a magnificent place - gorgeous bedroom, well equipped kitchen, luxury bathroom and a sitting room one could hold the Olympics in, all contained in a beautiful Georgian Edinburgh house in a quiet street. I am Londo based and this matches what top London hotels can offer and would be £500 - £1,000 per night there.
However what makes it is the level of service. Everything is available and no trouble but not pushy nor intrusive. I was born and bred in Scotland but have spent all my life in England and the one thing the Scots are lousy at is service. Too many of them equate service with servility BUT not the owner manager here who is amongst a band of unique Scots who believes in customer service, and has staked all money on making this place suceed by providing guests with a wonderful stay.
I will be back.

A three night family trip to Edinburgh offered the opportunity to see whether all the rave reviews of the Chester could be right. Well, they were: our basement apartment really wanted for nothing – many families live in spaces much smaller than this! And the staff are a model of friendly efficiency too. It wasn’t even expensive - effectively £110 per bedroom per night for a midweek stay. (It's more expensive at weekends, I think).

Quibbles? Largely about technology. The apartment was at the bottom of steep stone stairs which – presumably owing to a fault - were unlit, which is simply dangerous. And have they ever heard of the environment? I find it infuriating to enter an apartment which has been left with ALL FOUR televisions (yes, four) switched on, as well as all the lights, as well as the overwhelming under-floor heating. This is presumably intended to show what a technological wonderland you've entered, but the effect is just rather vulgar and overwhelming. And it’s certainly not ‘best practice’.

But everything else about the place was pretty much beyond reproach.

Dear Acer sed justus
Thank you for your review and for scoring us 5 stars! I note from your quibbles listed that there was an issue with the security light outside your apartment, i glad this was fixed the instant you mentioned it to reception.
Also , i thought id mention that we do have an enviromental policy at the hotel which involves recycling and turning off electrical appliances in rooms, however we as a standard leave the TV's on for arriving guests , i must stress however this is for arrival only and then they are left off !
