“Fabulous Easter Stay”
Reviewed 27 April 2011

We were fortunate enough to stay in this wonderful hotel on Easter Sunday. Everything was perfect and our only regret was that we were only staying one night. We received a complimentary bottle of wine and two Easter cupcakes which we regrettably left in the fridge and never actually ate!! They did however look delightful!
The accommodation is of an exceptionally high standard with no expense spared in the soft furnishings. I can not praise this establishment and its wonderful staff highly enough and hope to return in the very near future!

My sister and I have just returned from 2 nights at the Chester Residence and what a place it is. We stayed at 6 Rothesay which has only been finished about a week, and so everything was completely pristine, but we had stayed at the original Chester Residence two years ago and that was equally gorgeous.
The apartment was absolutely stunning with everything of the highest quality, and the staff could not have been more helpful. The lovely boys in their kilts were charm personified and nothing was too much trouble for them!!
Because we were the first guests to stay in the appt there were some hiccups with the water but we were offered other accomodation and given a lovely bottle of champagne to apologise for any inconvenience!!
Great location for George Street and all the lovely places to eat, as well as Princes St. and other attractions!
Would highly recommend a stay here!!

We stayed mid-week at The Chester Residence, for two nights, and were impressed with all aspects of the accommodation and service, and wowed by the elegance and thoughtfulness of the offering. Two great night's sleep, fantastic shower, and great coffee, delivered in an a way- above average fashion. Everything you need is to hand.

Myself and my husband stayed two nights in the Penthouse apartment for a 40th Birthday treat. The accommodation is well worth the 5 star rating plus the staff are very friendly and made our stay in Edinburgh stress free and enjoyable. We were also joined by friends and they too were impressed by the Grand apartment. The location is quiet and is within easy access to Princes street (2 min taxi or 10 min walk).

We will definitely come back to stay at the Chester residence next time we are in Edinburgh. We are completely converted to staying in an apartment rather than the confines of a hotel room. You can't beat hotel amenities coupled with the space of an apartment!

We'd seen other reviews of the Chester Residences and were not disappointed. Wonderful location (tip if arriving by train many of the London trains stop at Haymarket which is a 5 minute walk and nearer than the main station (Waverley). Lovely spacious apartments and confortable beds. Very helpful staff in particular the porter who sorted out minor problems for us (e.g. microwave oven and DVD player). Only minor gripe is could have done with communal stair lighting being on a timer so that it didn't stay on all night, but this really was a minor issue. Edinburgh is a fantastic city - recommend Wok and Wine (Chinese food) and almost all the Indian restaurants -plus Dynamic Earth science centre

We have just returned for a 3 night stay in a 2 bed/bath apartment with our teenage sons. The apartment is so lovely, very luxurious and spacious. The most plush place we have stayed in! Our boys were well impressed! The furnishing is of the very best of quality. Flat screen tv's, rain forest showers, complimentary Molton Brown & Jo Malone products, robes & slippers. Crisp white bedding and fully white towels. (Only gripe, I thought mattress in main bedroom was a touch firm, maybe me being ultra sensitive! Ours back home is on the firm side but not as firm as this one!) Pillows very comfy though!
Staff very welcoming, friendly but unintrusive. Place cleaned everyday.
Perfect location, in a quiet, up market area, just 5mins from Princes St. Plenty eating places and shops within walking distance.
We enjoyed meals in Bar Roma and Slainte Mhath near by.
Can't recommend it highly enough. Pefect place for relaxing after discovering the many wonderful sights Edinburgh has to offer.

We stayed here for three nights during mid march for my wife's 30th birthday. We had our little 11 month old girl with us.

We stayed in the penthouse apartment (apartment 7-1) on Rothesay Place.

This hotel is fantastic. The staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much of an ask for them. Like all the best restaurants and hotels the staff are non intrusive, allowing you to relax and enjoy your stay, until such time that you call upon them. At this point they are more than willing to accomodate you and help out with any query.

Special thanks to Sue, Katie and Lily. There was also a gentleman who helped us with our luggage on arrival who was excellent.

I don't know if it was because of the occasion of my wife's 30th birthday or whether this is all part of the usual service, but special touches from the staff included glasses of champagne delivered to the penthouse on the 2nd night, and cocktails delivered on the third night.

Any request for extra towels, a DVD player or toiletries was handled promptly.

The penthouse apartment is beautiful. The rooms are very large and lavishly decorated, with a TV in every room. The bathroom is huge with double sinks, a very large bathtub and a larger than double shower with a rainfall shower head and LED lighting. I know this sounds like gimmicks, but they are not there to mask any deficiencies and so serve only to heighten the whole experience of your stay.

There is an in built surround speaker system throughout the apartment. The kitchen facilities are very high quality and include an in-built wine chiller. You will not need to bring any form of cutlery, utensil or washing up liquid.

The living room is also a good distance along the other end of the apartment hallway from the bedroom, so if you have a young child sleeping in the bedroom then you do not have to worry about TV noise from the living room waking them up. The hotel provides a high quality travel cot and high chair (all Mamas and Papas) on request.

The single drawback with this apartment is that it is up six flights of stairs with no lift. Not ideal with lots of luggage and a small child, however the staff are always on hand to help you out as needed and I would personally have no hesitation in booking this same apartment for any future stay.

Simply stated, this hotel is both immaculate and exemplary in every detail.

The location is good, being just far enough from the city centre to feel serene and peaceful, but still within a 5 minute walk on to the end of Princes St. There is a large Co-op food store along this route, and it stocks everything you would need for a room only stay.
